The Toyota Tundra 2018 Brochure has
    https://dealerinspire-brochure.s3.amazonaws.com/1534.pdf

    SR5 CrewMax Towing at
    10,100 (4x2) /9,800(4x4)

    Yet the other trims are
    9,400 (4x2) /8,800(4x4)

    Curb weight is
    SR5:
    5,340/5,640

    Limited:
    5,380/5,680

    Platinum/1794:
    5,380/5,670

So why does the SR5 have 700lbs more Towing Capacity 4x2 and 1000lbs more Towing Capacity 4x4 over the other Crew Max trims?

Towing and payload numbers are all very specific to each individual truck. Those number are probably base numbers on the most basic truck of every trim level you can buy...no options no added anything. The moment you add options, factory towing and payload numbers go out the window.

Each trim level has additional bells and whistles that change the numbers. Things like added weight because of 20in wheels and tires, different factory suspension setups for the trim levels, etc.

Just an upgrade from 18s to 20s with tires can be up to if not over 500 pounds alone. Now throw in leather seats, upgraded sound systems, and the weight just keeps going up and the towing and payload numbers keep going down.

    Clear as mud?

    My little 2WD 2007 SR5 has a towing capacity of 10,400 lbs.

    Less is More.
