My 2019 has 14,500 miles. When I am coming into my driveway, which is a descent incline, if I let off the throttle in anyway, I get hesitation, like the transmission is slipping. Also, when I’m typically driving and tranny shifts from 1-2 its not nearly as smooth as my 2016 4Runner, I get it, different transmissions but starting to think something is up with the Tundra. Anyone else experiencing similar? This has been normal since I purchased it new.

For service records, I have changed the engine oil myself every 5,000 miles (Mobil 1 0W20 & OEM Filter), engine air filter at 10,000 miles, and plan to change the rear differential fluid at 15,000 miles.

I have noticed strange delays in the transmission as well. This has been discussed on this site before and the conclusion, I believe, was that this is somewhat normal. That said, if it concerns you, take it in and demonstrate it to a service rep. That way you're at least on record if something gets worse.

I have a fairly steep driveway and always put my vehicles in 1st so they don’t upshift.

Doesn't the ECU defaults to holding the truck in place, detecting an incline it will attempt to hold the truck without pressing the brake, so it doesn't roll back.. One of those early 2000 technological advancements that has made it standard equipment like seat belts... Which in this case would be normal for hesitation.

My 2020 makes a sort of bump when going up my driveway and I let up on the gas. I was wondering about a possible tranny problem, but after shifting into S-1 and then proceeding up my driveway I've discovered was starting up in 2nd then when letting up on the gas it would shift into 1st causing a weird bump.

Update today...prior to driving onto my driveway, I put the tranny into manual shift mode and when stopped I noticed my display stated my tranny was currently in 4th gear. Thought that was odd.

After reading @Eaganite message above, I manually placed the tranny into S-1 and voila, there was no hesitation or wonky shifting. Now I know it’s a transmission shifting issue, as suspected. It’s too much work to stop the truck and put it into S-1 when I come everyday, hopefully this won’t prematurely damage my tranny but at least we know what’s occurring now.

going from D to S, it will automatically go into S-4. That is normal... I read somewhere that automatics are basically 4speeds anything more are considered overdrive gears... I may be wrong, but its my understanding...

Tow mode will hold first gear as well.

I don't think your tranny will suffer any damage. There are a number of people who have been experiencing this odd shifting from these trucks and one thing you could try, when approaching the bottom of your driveway slow down to below five MPH around that speed should have the tranny shifting to first gear. A little experimenting and you may find a acceptable solution.

16mpg if I’m pussyfooting around. It’s tough to do that though with an aftermarket exhaust and Sprint Booster.
