Sally is a rain maker... NE Georgia and NW South Carolina need to be on the alert for flooding.

After going through Harvey, I couldn't agree more. Hope everyone stays safe, the weatherman is wrong (it rains less), and loss of property/damages is minimal.

Sally is a fickle thing. She kept adjusting her path eastward until she put me in her path. I'm not concerned about the winds. A Cat 1 or even a mild Cat 2 storm probably won't even knock out our power for more than a few hours. But I'm glad I am paranoid of flooding. Spanish Fort is on a cliff over Mobile Bay and my house is on a fairly high hill above that cliff. I'm sitting at 220' elevation according to GPS. My wife is off work today and tomorrow but I still have to work from my home office. Oh well! I am VERY thankful that Sally is not another Laura!

Sally was one crazy bitch. @Bakershack hope you have power and are safe. I’m sending prayers up to all my family & friends in her path.

I woke up around 4:30 this morning to do what old guys do at about that time (pee). I say woke up but my dogs had been nervous all night with the heavy rain.

Well, around 5 the power went out and my UPS's started beeping, so I got up to turn them all off. The wind was pretty fierce and my roof was creaking so much and the dogs were all cuddled up next to my wife and me (one 50# lab and one 100# lab). I finally dozed back off - nothing I could do to stop the wind!

We were quite blessed - the only damage we had was a 10 ft section of fence the was knocked over. Broke the posts at ground level. Most of our neighbors lost some siding or shingles, and some in Spanish Fort and Daphne had trees fall on their homes.

Well I spent the afternoon finding everything to hook my generator up to the house. I haven't had to run the generator for more than maintenance runs in over 10 years, so I had to rummage through the attic and make a trip to Lowe's but finally got it running. NO MORE THAN 2 minutes later, my neighbor comes over to tell me that power in the neighborhood is on again. Oh well, I'm now ready for the next storm!

Again, we were blessed. We have friends who have damage and I'll be headed over to their houses tomorrow with my chain saw.
