You better hope @Quartermeter doesnt read this... he's going to freak out!! LOL. Honestly, I think most DC owners buy one for the longer bed, not to save a few bucks. That's kinda like saying Lincoln Town Car owners were too cheap to buy a limousine.

 

Sorry double cab owners. Not being negative just kinda how I felt after I bought me a 2013 Tundra 2x4 then later wished I got the 4x4. That's why I sold it and now got the 2017 4x4. Plus if I was single I would have got the double cab with the 6' bed, just wished Tundra gave us an option crewman with the 6' bed and make us all happy

Oh and a town car has a long way to go to be a limo. Here it is again. 90% of the time, If your single and buy a CM you didn't really need a truck..LOL. They're both the same WB. But you all know that...I think.

That's a damn nice find!! I definitely would have scooped that up. I'm pretty sure you're going to love it. Exhaust is a bit down on my list but I'll get there eventually.

 

Im buying things as i find them. Also found tires off a 2017, 20 miles from home. Michelin LTX MS^2 street tires and steel wheels, mounted and balanced for $400. Just going to paint or plasti dip the wheels flat black and drive them. I drive the truck to work. Dont care about big tires. So far so good. Still waiting on my MARATHON seat covers to be delivered first of April. Ordered right after Christmas.. Guess they were behind.

If you haven't already pulled the trigger, the double cab is more than ample. I have a 4runner and just bought a DC knowing that the CM wasn't needed. 3 yr old and 6wk old take up Damn near no space at all in my case.. The 100lb chocolate lab takes up more space, but money to diapers, clothes, and a crib is much better spent than an extra few inches of leg room. That and you'll need that bed space hauling baby furniture, from experience.
The grass is always greener on the other side, for trucks that is, for babies it's a yellowish brown color.

 

No worries. I'm keeping what I have. Going to be upgrading wheels and tires this summer hopefully

 

I'm in the same predicament after owning my DC for 5 months. I don't mind paying a little bit extra per month but what's keeping me back is paying 3-4K in CA tax all over again. Wish there was someway to avoid paying sales tax the second time in less than a year.

 

You'll be fine with the dc. I got 3 kids 2 in car seats they are fine

 

Every time i go to get wood at my supplier someone always comments about my 8' bed, actually most everywhere i go people comment. I never see 8' bed trucks at the supplier. The only thing that sucks about the long bed is all the time i have to take to answer questions.

 

Dealer I bought mine from has a left over 17 Crewmax, SR5 Upgrade and Safety/Convenience, Steps, MGM, TRD. $40K. Seems a bit high for left over. Thoughts?

I'll admit that the extra space afforded by the CM sure seems nice, but in my book not worth the money. I've had BIG sedans with huge rear seats in the past. Sat in the back of my DC before I bought it. I'm 6'2" & 220 lbs. Same room in the DC rear as in my sedans. That sealed it for me. My eighth grade son and third grade daughter (with booster seat) are comfortable. No dogs here. Your good and will be payment free soon. Keep the DC!

 

Yeah, I owe about $9k. Should have it paid off early by next fall. It's 1.9% for 48, but paying extra each month is helping knock.it down.

I’ve owned a few of each. As far as size goes my oldest son could sit in the back of my double cab if the front seat was forward a bit and he was huge. Saying that, I love my crew cab.

 

Wouldn't come down on price. I think $40,300 is too steep for a leftover 17 CM TRD.

 

I wouldn't worry about it if I was you - I have a crewmax and have three kids (who all love the space), but my 8 year old still can't touch the seats in front even with her legs straight out so it's probably overkill at the moment! That said, it's pretty much the only model they import to Australia and I don't need a longer bed. It is seriously a huge back seat - awesome if you don't need the bed length, but definitely unnecessary if you do.

 

Hah! I paid $110k (AUD - about $87k USD) for a second hand 2015 so cry a little over comments like this

I need the bed length, but have no kids. I'd say you need a CM, you can always manage the "stuff" you put in the back.

 

I have a third one on the way... I now have no truck bed and two trailers. And two Sequoias.

If bedspace becomes an issue, you can always add a bed extender. ‘Tis what I did, and I haven’t had any problems with the shorter bed since.

 

Write the pros and cons for what you currently have and do the same for the CM.

Go with the one that has more pros.

CrewMax here. No second thoughts. More room in the back seat...Drop the tailgate and use a rachet strap...

 

CM for sure. Any friends that ride in the back seat of my truck are blown away by how spacious it is.

 

I'm sure you would love some sage advice to help you with your decision but that /\ unfortunately is the truth.

A CC would obviously have more room then the DC in the back seat area but the DC is pretty roomy for an extended cab. Part of it depend on how tall you and your wife are and how far back you keep the front seats? Having had two young kids with an older ext. cab truck I can tell you its very do-able. It will be tight at first while they are still in car seats but after that its fine.

As for the bed size that depends on what you normally use your bed for? For camping and outdoor stuff the 5' bed is probably fine? I mostly use mine for drywall, plywood, lumber as well as loads of dirt and mulch so I personally didn't want anything shorter then the 6.5' bed.

My kids are grown and on their own now so I really don't need the back seat at all. If Toyota had ever made a Gen3 RCSB, that's what I would have bought.
