After 2 years of owning my Tacoma OR, decided to get something that will tow a little better. Initially I had a Ranger RT188, which the Taco did fine. But after the need for more speed hit me, I purchased a fiberglass Ranger 185vs which put the hurting on the Taco when towing. Ended up picking up this TRD Sport over Labor Day weekend on a lease. I was planning on only holding this Tundra till the next gen comes around...

Tundras, in most trims, are incredibly hard to find in my area at the moment. And those that you can find are either firm on MSRP or are marked up due to the shortage. Even used Tundras are overly priced. My brother inlaw picked up his Tundra Limited from Carmax with 27k on it for $37k 2 months ago. Now Carmax is listing SR5 Tundras for high $30s to low $40s :eek2:. Happen to find a dealership about 250 miles south of me willing to work on an acceptable price considering today's low inventory.

If you're wondering what's happening to the Tacoma, I am in the process of selling it to Givemeyourvin.com. It's a company similar to Carvana who do online appraisals and offers on used vehicles. Time couldn't be worse to get a great offer on my Tacoma but also have a low inventory of new and used Tundras! Enough rambling...

I had an 18' Ranger 375v which is a heavy hull for an 18'. My Tacomas towed it fine. When I got rid of the Ranger and bought a 22' Bay Champ I towed it 6 hours on interstate from LA to Tx averaging 70+ mph. Maybe I had no problems because I had the 4.0. One reason I sold and bought Tundra was the gas tank on the Tacoma was too small. I stopped for gas 3 times on the LA to Tx trip.

The 4.0 definitely tows better, my brother has one. The 3.5, while doable, was just uncomfortable towing. I could cruise at 70mph but truck would consistently gear hunt and/or stick in 4th gear. It just wasn't ideal.

Welcome from UT! I think everyone is trying to get the last of the V8's either used or new so there are few in stock now.
