You are describing every 18-23 year old I see. Chubby shorts and shirts and a mullet, rope hat and some old school wide lens Oakley sunglasses with Fanny packs. And if Drakes first hip hop album is the last one you thought was good, it’s not just you.

Start worrying if you can’t tell if you are peeing or not in the middle of the night while going to the bathroom or if you are eating at Denny’s or IHOP every morning. Also, if you are comparing this years lawn growth to last years based on accumulated rain fall and you bought a farmers almanac it’s over. Start looking into which neighborhood in the Villages you are moving into.

They're probably copying me. I'm on the verge of 40 but I've got a lot of miles.

    The alternative to getting old?
    That would be death IMO.

Although death would be better in some instances:
Wife and I just went through the Depends thing and care for her father.
Moved him out of his crappy ghetto neighborhood in East Dallas into what was his mother's house in the country in Edgewood Texas.
We spent 6 months (every weekend) and a lot of money redoing the house before we moved him in.

He lived there for 2 great carefree years as dementia slowly crept into his brain.
Had to put him in assisted living in January, but it was like his own little apartment, not a nursing home.
Passed to what the hospital called Covid on July 31st, but he had several health issues.
Covid isn't what killed him, but we won't get into all that.

It was better for everyone, especially him, that he died.
He pretty much spent 24 hours a day in his recliner staring at the TV or sleeping.
Only getting up to change his Depends, on the days that he did do it, some he didn't.
He wasn't living, he was existing.

    Sorry to bring everyone down.
But I guess I'll take the little quirks of getting older over what I think is the alternative.
I'm not quite ready to check out just yet..

Well tomorrow I'm replacing the CV axles in the 4Runner. Not looking forward to it, but was quoted $600 from the garage and I'll be in it for less than $200. I'm 59 and so over working on cars. Hopefully it goes well and I don't end up regretting it.

I started a new hobby with bringing pinball machines back to life. My wife doesn't get it, but I guess I'm reliving my childhood. Played a lot of pinball back then. She doesn't see how I can sit and repin 150 connectors and not hate it. I think it's relaxing and at least my knuckles aren't getting beat up.

You have to be at least 35 to afford the gas. The Tacoma and four runner are both just gateway drugs to the Crewmax tundra with a bed step. Ask me how I know.

    Olukai's for me.

I buy most of my clothes at Costco and will plan supper around a trip there.

I like supper at 530pm and cut my grass at least twice a week. Never cared about my lawn in my 20s or 30s.

I watch more documentaries than movies, haven't seen the last few X-Men, Star Wars or Avengers movies as they are too loud with no story.

I enjoy listening to Nat King Cole more and more these days, on Vinyl.

I use my phone to zoom in on serial numbers and fine print if I can't see it.

And the final straw....I started wearing a Flat Cap last year ....and it suits me.

    I'm 47 :(

    I'm 31.

    - Everything hurts most days.

    - I'm losing my hair.

    - I don't party

    - Bed time is 9pm, wake up time is 5am

    - The music is too loud

    - Crotchety is my default setting

    - Kids these days are idiots

    - I don't wait in line ups, at least not without vocal complaint

    - People suck.

    - My idea of a wild night is dinner at home with The Woman followed by a dram of whiskey and a game of cribbage or darts.

    - I'd rather have my days off mid-week than on a weekend so as to avoid crowds and get things done

    - If I sleep past 730 on a day off, I may as well give up because half the day is wasted.

    - I've been in a night club once. Never again.

    - I haven't been in a bar in years

    - Flyfishing a lake for trout and saying smug things to my buddy like "I say ol' boy, you really should switch to a #10 Black O'Lindsay if you want to have any hope of catching a fish" is my idea of a perfect vacation.

    - Get off my lawn.

I got a really nice 5 channel amp right around March. Haven't even installed it yet because the thrill of louder music doesn't have a hold on me like before. I'll have a few "free" weekends next month, maybe then.

You know you're old when you remember going the see the theater opening for Jason & the Argonauts................1963. 25 cents for a double feature matinee. Only six years after Yota sold its first car here....only 10 years after the Korean war ended. Beach Boys were #1...Taco Bell was only a year old and the food was edible....comics were 12 cents.......gas was almost free......sugar was still used in soda pop. A new band named the Beatles began taking over the planet pissing the Beach Boys off.....12" GI Joe's were cool to play with along with real looking toy guns. 63 was one year before Star Trek.....westerns were still kuul tv shows.....still are in my book...

Ahh to be on the verge of 40 again... I didn't complain about any of that stuff then.

I saw the original Star Wars in the movie theater. The two earliest movies I remember seeing were Dr. Doolittle and Jungle Book, both from 1967.
