So turns out there was a little bit of wax but also a decent amount of paint rubbed off. Looks like the topper may have been rubbing at some point with the PO :eek

At least I finished the install of a new deck. Really modernized the interior and nice to have front and rear cameras and CarPlay. Have to get some more time to do the bass setup and I need to replace these ancient stock speakers. Also added some USB ports, including one for CarPlay, and a voltmeter. Biggest PITA was getting the harness off the back of the cigarette lighter to use for acc switched power.

 

Helping out a buddy’s boat rental company today.

 

Swapped out the super outdated factory NAV (with JBL) with a $169 Android HU from ATOTO. It's got a crazy good number of reviews on Amazon, and there are a couple of very good YouTube full reviews.

I've ordered the trim kit to fill the gaps, but it looks really good so far.

 

Finally got this thing mounted. Just need to snug up all the bolts.

 

Front and rear cameras were an awesome addition to the new HU. Only $40 for both. (Forgive my shirtless reflection)

I guess you won’t need to mount front plates anymore.

How do you switch between front and rear cams? Or are you just using an Android DVR app for front?

 

Fortunately I’ve never lived in a state that requires a front plate. For the front camera, I just select it through the head unit (has multiple camera inputs). I can also select the rear anytime through the unit but I have it auto-trigger by reverse as well.

Replaced my AC Condenser and AC dryer for the tundra. Sometime this week I’ll get it refilled and it’ll be like brand new AC

 

I didn't realize any 1st gen Tundras came with factory navigation?

 

Changed the oil and greased the ball joints and driveshaft. I took someone's advice and did it with the oil warm and it made a HUGE difference for the Fumoto Valve. Now I understand why people love them.

Holy crap, I didn't realize this was a thing and also can't believe I didn't think of it. Are a lot of people using this on their G1 Tundras, is there a common p/n?

I think I'd like to install this. Would turn oil changes into a cleaner 10 minute job.

 

I have the F103N. I know we have several members using them. I got it because I have an oil pan skid plate. I'm able to attach a hose to the valve and open it without spilling a drop of oil.

The first time I did an oil change with the Fumoto I did it with the engine cold and it took 90 minutes to drain. I was pissed. Yesterday I took the truck for a drive first and it drained in 15.

 

I had Fumoto for years, got tired of the slow draining and put the original drain plug back in.

Definitely makes for a cleaner oil change, just drains to slow for me.

 

Just did mine with a fumoto. Threw the drain pan under just after I got home and opened it up. Gathered the rest of the supplies, measured the TB for @empty_lord , checked the oil in the mower and Gator, shut the valve, changed the filter, and filled it up.
45 minutes total, it's not super fast but I'm usually not in a hurry to get it done.

 

I let it drain while rotating the tires and greasing the uca’s. Multitasking for the win.

I wouldn't mine a fumoto. I too have the heavy skid plate and it sucks sticking a funnel between the plate and the drain plug, then taking the bolt put with a funnel in my way. Normally when I drain my oil I go checking other stuff out and crack open a beer anyhow.

 

Guess I'll be busy tomorrow. Driver's side outer boot has a small opening in it. I'm worried maybe water might get in there (read sarcasm). Passenger side inner boot slinging grease. These are Advanced auto shafts sold under the Carquest brand for around $100. Lifetime limited warranty on them. The drivers has 90k miles and is 6 years old. The passenger one has 70k miles on it. They will swap them for free.

 

So has anyone added a fuel filter to their 05-06? From what I've found on the web there is not one on my 2005. I'm going to be in other countries with questionable gas. I'd love to have a fuel water separator but not sure if it's a good idea or a great idea. Also not wanting a can of worms.

I will continue to stand by the EZ oil drain valve I have. It's the same as the fumoto, but it drains my entire pan in about 3 mins I would guess. It hasn't dripped at all in the 3 years I've had it installed.

 

Dropped my third member this evening to have my Nitro 4.10 ring and pinion gear slapped in. After this, I am going to be totally finished with my 4wd conversion.

I'm also having a master bearing and seal kit put in the diff since I have it cracked open.

After this is over with, I'll call JBA about that cracked header since they won't reply to my emails. I also noticed two drops of antifreeze under the big gorl and I have no idea where they came from. I'm thinking the water pump or some kind of seal around the thermostat.

The way I look at it when something goes wrong on my truck (which really hasn't happened yet) is better for it to go wrong now than later down the road on a road trip or something else.

 

Well, it was last night... not today... and all the fellas who frequent the lunch table thread already know about it, but.... here goes!

Installed @SouthPaw's basic OEM projector set up.

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked them. I've never had a vehicle with projectors before so it was an adjustment for me. Now that I'm adjusted to them, I really like em.

Also, pulled the cover off my smart tap relay. It was intermittently flashing the drivers side whenever the turn signal was activated. Found a loose connection on the through mount for the drivers side relay.


Soldered that pin in.

No more intermittent flashing. Now its proper flashing lol
