ok folks.... really disappointed thus far on this truck. Bought it brand new, saved up so i could get the prized toyota truck that lasts forever.... well here we are now at 15k and some change on the odometer and so far I've had both rear axles replaced and almost the entire rear end done because the axles came bent from the factory, a few months ago the rear differential spat out fluid through the breather, supposedly it was over filled. Dealership changed the oil to make sure nothing was damaged and sent me on my way, this afternoon, got under the truck to check out my spare since i haven't done so yet and i was curious.... well here we are again, fluid/moisture from the breather. I will say not much, but should the truck be doing this????? This is the second time in two months this has happened. If i understand correctly this is a fail safe correct? So there must be something not right for it to do this correct?

It's probably overfilled again. Take out the fill plug and check it, if alot runs out, then it was overfilled (possibly from having the front end of the truck pointed down while on the lift, while the rear end was higher in the air, or vice versa, dont remember if the fill plug is on the front or rear of the diff, I work on alot of different vehicles ), a little bit running out wouldn't be a cause for concern, anything more than a couple ounces is overfilled. If that's the case then let it drain out of the fill plug till it stops (on level ground of course). Be worth getting a new breather for piece of mind too, good time to do the rear diff breather mod if that's the case

mine had a damp spot there too when i first got it. call the dealer and just get it on record that youve noticed oil outside the diff vent just to have it documented. clean it up and see if it returns. if not, i wouldnt worry too much about it.

Could be the threads leaking where the breathers screws in. Remove and use some Teflon tape, clean the area and check after a while.
