Good evening everyone!! Proud to be a part of this family of Toyota Tundra owners. Thank you! My husband and I have a 2005 tundra. We bought her used 2yrs ago right before the hurricane. We’ve installed new LED Headlps and interior lamps. We are interested in a fifth wheel and want to learn more about or girls towing capacity and if she will be able to tow anything. We want to get going in about a month. So I hope to learn s as lot between now and then. Thank you.

ThankYou thank you guys. Well see our girl she’s a four-door and she’s limited she’s 2005 Toyota tundra too bad to my husband said she can only pull 5K I don’t know because a fifth wheel is the way to go and the little travel trailers are so small I am really hoping she can pull a fifth wheel.

Welcome from Pennsylvania. I have a 2020 limited for the purpose of buying an RV next spring. We looked at the smaller fifth wheel which certainly the way to go but after adding up the extra weight for supplies it’s pushing the limit. In the end we decided to stick with a travel trailer that will put us in the 8k lbs range which is comfortable for the beast to pull. Good luck and if you find something please share. I’d be interested in hearing.

Have you checked the info plate on the door jam? It will list the trucks weight as well as the payload available. Check that and report back.

The issue with 5th wheels and half ton trucks is the pin weight (payload). When you add the heavy 5th wheel you typically are close or even over your payload numbers. Then when you add passengers, fuel, load the camper, you can quickly end up WAY over weight of what you should actually be towing safely.

We just need some more info- what configuration is your truck-regular cab or ?, what engine and what your available payload is. Also, is it stock or modified, lifted?

Check your owners manual if you have it. There is a code in the drivers door jam that you will use to match up in the manual. When you match the code to the manual it will tell you what the your trucks configuration pay load is and your trucks towing capacity. I really don't think these Tundras can tow a 5th wheel. I have done extensive research on this and it really isn't ideal. I have a 2020 Tundra sport, towing capacity is 9600lbs and payload (Cargo capacity) is 1320 lbs. Most of your 5th wheel pin weight start at 1450lbs. When you determine your payload you need to subtract passenger weight and any carrying cargo in the cab of the truck from that payload number. For example, my payload is 1320 lbs, passenger weight is me and my wife = 300lbs. I never have anything other than us in the cab of the truck. So thats 1320-300 and now my payload is 1020lbs. There is NO 5th wheel with a pin weight of less than 1020lbs. Your pin weight should be 10-15% less of your pin weight. so that would actually be @ 10% 918lbs. So I hope this answers your question. Good luck

Welcome from Florida! I don't have any experience towing 5th wheels but I wish you the best in figuring it out!
