Howdy Guys and Gals -I'm getting a shimmy/vibration from my front-end when slowing down (not braking hard). Could this be a brake/rotor issue? If so, does anyone have an opinion on turning rotors versus new rotors?

I’ve always heard this a symptom of warped or damaged rotors. Personally I don’t have an opinion either way, whichever way would be cheaper at the time. I have a local shop that turns and they tend to trade blows with the price of replacing depending on current sales. Both are valid things, replacement is definitely possible to do yourself and is quite easy to do IMO so that is something to consider as well.

Warped rotors. Common complaint with tundras unfortunately. If you are doing all that work I would just replace. Turning the rotors removes material, thinner material heats more quickly and can lead to reduce braking and more warping.

My truck is doing the same thing also, Only when im going 70 and slowing down to 65/60 then stops. i just ended up buying new rotors and brake pads for the front and rear since i have to take the caliper out mind as well replace them.

Thats the only gripe with my truck...seemed to go through rotors way faster than anything else I’ve had.

Buybrakes.com sells a stoptech kit with slotted rotors and 309 (or 304 pads)...took a drill to my dust backing plate and put 6 or 7 1/4” holes in that MF.

    No more jitters.

My 18 started the vibrating when braking around 10k miles. Replaced rotors and pads with power stop and now at almost 30k it’s starting to do it again.
