Hey everyone I’m new to this so hopefully I’m doing this right. I want to change my factory brake controller in my 2016 tundra because it doesn’t work. Can I just change controller or do I need to change wiring to

My understanding is you can unplug the harness from your factory controller and it will be plug & play with an aftermarket unit.

You just need a cable for your new controller to the truck connector and you are in business.
    I did one last yesterday!

People seem to go for the tekonsha p3. I had one in my old truck and it worked, but it’s the only one I’d ever had at that point so I didn’t have anything to compare it to. There is a company that makes a fitting to put it in the place of the stock one too.

I thought you already have the factory one and they sort of known to not work?

Yes but I didn’t know if they made the replacement one better or not.

    Now I understand.
Cant help there I use the P3 and always have and they are the real deal.
I have read mostly bad things about the factory unit and would love one i they worked but its not worth taking the chance to me.
