The finance manager must make a huge commission on selling those warranties, because I hear all the time how they turn into total biiitches when you decline. My experience was the same. Awesome sales lady, awesome sales manager. Great negotiations back-and-forth. Finance manager is very nice while preparing the paperwork - we talked about family, hobbies, etc. and then Boom!, I say no to his warranty and he turned into a monster. Basically telling me I am an idiot for not buying it. The last 15 minutes in his office not a word was said. The year before I bought my son a Camry. Because it was a used car I allowed the finance manager to sucker me into buying the warranty. However getting home and going through the paperwork, I realized he charged me $3,000 for it - not at all what he said in his sales pitch. I went back the next day to cancel it (you have 30 days to cancel) and he was almost in tears. He tried all kinds of ways to keep me from cancelling it. I think he had already spent his commission the night before because he was just flat out fighting it, but in the end had to do it.

Bottom line, it will happen, but don't let that take away from the experience and excitement of the new vehicle.

I got lucky with my purchase - well, actually, no I didn't. Local dealership is fantastic. We knew what was going on, what needed to be done, etc., when we bought our truck - it was right as all this COVID-19 stuff was starting. So we told the guy "I want it set up such that we can get in and out as soon as possible, because I'm busier'n crap at work."

I timed it - from the moment we walked into the dealership to the moment we walked out to drive the truck home was EXACTLY 31 minutes - including them transferring the stuff from the old truck to the new, signing all the paperwork, etc.

WOW. I am always in there for what seems like at least 4 hours. It's exhausting.

I am glad to see your post. I am about to purchase a Tundra and hopefully can get same good deal like you. Would you mind giving me a pm screenshot of your invoice with your personal info wipe out. I will use that to negotiate with them. I live in Richmond tx and will go to Sterling McCalls to buy there.

Most dealers will not budge. I have been dealing with this for about 2 months now. The prices have gone up, both on the Tundras and the 4Runners. There is no inventory in my area, and when there is, you are lucky to get out the door at 40K on an SR5. Yes that's correct.....you wont get an SR5 for less than 40K here in the Tampa area.

    Are you happy with it?

    Can you afford it?

Then pull the trigger and don't look back. I wanted and drooled over both my Tundra and my Challenger RT for a few years before I pulled the trigger. The way I do it is I lust after a vehicle for awhile without ever setting foot into a dealership. Often for years. Then when I'm ready there's no weeks of test driving and haggling back and fourth. Once I decide to go shop for the first time and leave my house, I normally come home with the car. I've been so obsessed with it that I know what I want and what it's worth to me.

I show up, get an OTD price that seems in line with general averages I've been seeing. I pretend I don't care, I remain prepared to walk, I act like I haven't read up and don't know what I'm looking for at all besides make and model. Even though with my Challenger I knew the precise vehicle on their lot I wanted, all its specs and its sticker price when I walked into the showroom. Kind of a tough acting job. "Say, how bout we have a look at that one sitting over in the corner? What's that got?"

Inside my head: "Plum crazy 6 speed Rt plus, leather, alpine, blacktop package, 8.1 screen, $34,532."

When I hear the right number I pull the trigger and enjoy the vehicle. Just so happens that when I go back and check the True Market Value stuff after the fact I tend not to be far off. But If I paid 1100 dollars more than whatever someone says I should have, I don't care. If someone on the internet says he paid 6K less for the same truck with the same options I don't care. The question is is the price comfortable for me?

I only buy vehicles I love so I'm too busy enjoying it to get upset that Joe Schmoe on the forums said he paid 50 cents less.

Crewmax? 4x4? In all honesty this doesn't sound unreasonable to me for a Crewmax, but a bit much for a DC. 11 years ago when I drove my 09 CM 4x4 off the lot I paid about 34,500 plus TTL for it. Inflation is a bitch. It doesn't matter if I wander a Ford, Chevy, or Toyota lot, V8 Crew Cab 4x4 with cloth and mid level equipment runs about 40K and change. Maybe with the domestics you can dip into the high 30s if you work for it. Still, cloth, basic stereo and standard rims close to 40K seems the norm now. Was a 32-35K truck last time I bought a pickup.

Hello guys, I'm currently shopping for a Tundra myself and a lot of dealerships are marking up the price close to 5 grand with nothing installed. I was able to find a White Crewmax 4x4 with TRD Sport package for $44,668. MSRP is $47,868 and Dealer price is $52,863. Not sure if I should pull the trigger. Inventory here in NorCal is very low within 150 miles for a white one.

You're right about that. 5 short years ago I paid 44k for a 4x4 limited crewmax with DVD installed. It's crazy how expensive they're getting

That's not bad. Mine, the same specs, was MSRP at $49,800± 2.5 years ago, and I got it down to about $44,500. To get the same deal 2.5 years later sounds good to me. My MSRP included window tint, spray on bed liner, deck rails, door edge protectors, service plan, in addition to the standard TRD stuff..

I wish all the extra stuff you listed were included but with the current situation and low inventory dealership won't budge anything lower and no more extra stuff. I have been watching a lot of dealership and White seem to be a popular color. I'll just get the extra stuff slowly out of pocket cost.

No way in hell should you pay that!! This won't be forever, trust me, so don't let the stealerships take advantage of you!

I just bought a TRD off road in Voodoo with nearly the same price tag for 41,500 out the door in June (no taxes here)!

FOLKS BE PATIENT AND WAIT IT OUT!! don't let these crappy dealerships take advantage!

As much as I like to wait I'm in need of a car starting Aug 9 because my work will not be allowing us to take our work vehicles home anymore. Might as well get a truck that I'm sure I'll be keeping for a long time.

If you paid $41,500 for your off-road then why do you think that $44,600 is so outrageous for a TRD Sport. Sport is typically a little higher priced than a Off Road, so the prices seem to be in line.
    Just curious...

It is not a bad deal. Do it and enjoy the truck. I used to have sleepless nights about deals until I realized that in the end it does not matter one bit. What is important is that you like the truck and you enjoy using it.

Probably because mine was OUT THE DOOR at that price, that included the silly doc fee! 3K is A LOT of money that you could save! ONLY 2K off the MSRP is absurd!

It was MSRP. The add-ons were port installed, which is added to the MSRP.
Dealer add ons were pin striping, all weather floor mats, nitrogen filled tires which I told them right from the beginning I didn't want and won't pay for any of it. I started negotiations at MSRP, not at the dealer's price.
