I just bought a 2017 Tundra with the 4.6 engine - It has just over 100k miles on it and runs perfect - I have noticed a whine noise from time to time which sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the engine near the valve cover (I think) it comes and goes with no real reason or regularity , I thought at first it was a Power Steering whine but have flushed the reservoir twice with no change and the fluid isnt burnt so dont think thats it

Anyone have any ideas - I am an ex mechanic and honestly I am stumped

A whine engine noise is often an alternator that's failing. The alternator is low on the front of the engine, passenger side. If you have a stethoscope, you can probably confirm it's the alternator through the front passenger wheel well by removing the splash guard.
