I am considering changing from a 285/75R18 Cooper AT3 XLT on SCS Ray 10’s to the 17 inch Method 315.

    The Ray 10 is a 5x150 with a BS of 6” and +25 offset.

    The 17 inch Method 315 is a 5x150 with a BS of 4.5 and a 0 offset.

I have the Bilstein 6112s on top setting with shims and Total Chaos UCAs.

My tires wound be the new Toyo open country AT III in 35x11.5x17 (not 35x12.5x17)

What can of worms would I be opening up here that I am unaware of as far as rubbing or offsets or backspacing or rotor issues? Method also makes the same wheel in an 18 with a +18 offset. So maybe it’s safer to just do the 18.

    Thank you for your assistance.

Mine are 17x8.5 +0 with 4.5” backspace. Tires are 285/75/17. I had to remove all my fender liner plastic on the stock bumper and the front mudflaps to get rid of any rubbing.
I have the Old Man Emu setup which probably puts me at a similar ride height as what you have.

Thanks! I’m going with the Toyo open country AT III in a 35x11.5x17 so I’m wondering if the new 11.5 width on the 17 inch wheel will prevent any rubbing issues or something I’m not thinking about due to the change from a +25 offset to a zero offset

My tire is almost 11.5” wide but your tire will be taller than mine is. With the tire size I have it just barely clears everything, and any size taller I would definitely need a cab mount chop.
So I would bet that you will need to the CMC to fit those without rubbing.

I think I will just stay with the same tire I have then and stay with the 18 and avoid creating issues.

    Thanks man.

ATIII in 35x11.5 are actually 34.5x11.4 according to Toyo's site. I have the 285 75 17 and a 3" lift which Toyo lists as 33.9x11.3 I also run a 17" x 8.5 wheel +25 offset. I was rubbing up front and I unbolted the plastic and redrilled/moved some holes and made about an inch of room. Problem solved with taste. The 0 offset is what might cause the rubbing issue. A BMC might be the ticket for you?

+18 or +25 are best on our trucks with 3/1 lift/ aftermarket UCAs imo. if you really want to go 17"s, check the Icon rims. they are +25.
Method only makes the 18" rims with +18/+25 vs their 17's ones with 0 offset

Ya that’s what my research has shown me. I think with my current lift and setup I’m better off staying with the 18” with the +18 offset. One day maybe I can be cool and get 17”s.

when I was comparing a 35 in 18 and 17 only 5 % sidewall difference so if you already have 18" aftermarket wheels imo not worth the cost of buying new set of wheels to gain 5% sidewall.

Yes I agree. I have a fellow co worker with a Tundra who actually needs new tires and wants wheels. So I said I will sell you my package and then I would use that money to get something else. Then he is happy and I am happy. So one option is a 17 inch wheel. Since I have options, I figured I would ask the pros before I went down a bad road. I’m thinking of just staying with an 18 and 285/75R18 since I know it works on my truck with zero issues.
