I’ve had my 2011 Tundra for less than a year. During that time, I always felt like the airlow from the heater/ac was a little lower than other vehicles that I’ve owned. After reading several posts on this forum regarding changing the cabin filter. I stopped by a local autoparts store and picked up a replacement cabin filter. Upon removing the access panels and current filter, I was shocked to see in what poor condition the filter was in. It was filthy, and it was packed with leaves and twigs. The compartment was also pretty full of the same debris. I changed the filter, and the increase in airflow was substantial! The fan seems to be quite a bit louder, so much so that I am a bit concerned that it shouldn’t be that noticeable. I am going to pull the new filter and run the system to listen to the fan with the cover off.

At any rate, the filter change was a huge improvement in the system’s performance. Here is a pic of the old filter.

Needless to say, this will be something on my regular maintenance schedule now. That thing was disgusting.

Mine was the same way when I checked after a year. Unreal difference with air flow :)

I try to replace mine every year. I spend the big bucks and get the activated charcoal filters. It costs an extra $10 but I think I'm worth it. I have thought about the K&N version but nobody carries it close by and I've been too lazy to order one.
