I still like it better with the top. Actually have secure storage. And it looks proportionally better to me.

Yeah same spot. I’ve heard spring run off is usually good, and summer monsoons are epic.

 

Has anyone found a dome light switch that fits a 2004? I can’t find any that fit onto it. Mine are loose and don’t do anything when pushed in besides feel loose.

Im interested in doing this, But unfortunately my knowledge stops at the engine. Would I just remove the throttle body and clean it with Tb cleaner and reinstall? Should I get a new gasket?

 

You can do this easily without removing the entire TB. Remove the 10MM nut on the AC hose thingy so you can move it for making room for removing rubber intake. Loosen the 10MM nut on the collar at the rubber intake. Wiggle the rubber collar off. Now you can see the TB Valve. Stick your hand in there and tilt it. Hold it in the open position with one hand and wipe with the other. Takes some Hand Yoga Technique, but easier than removing the entire TB. You need TB Cleaner, a microfiber, and your brothers tooth brush.

 

Take yours apart and mess with it. You might be able to bend the metal back for contact.

@Tundra2 prefers to spare birds feathers. He uses deer fur bristled brushes. Little firmer for engine grime.

 

I remember running the tall Toyota filter on my 2002... when did Toyota do away with the larger filter?

I did an experimental install to see if it would even work at all. Now that I know the catch can is doing something, I plan on fabbing up a mount next to my brake booster that will use the existing bolt holes in my firewall.

I just ran some hose from my pcv valve to the can and then back to the manifold.

Either way success! I had to add an extra ½ quart to compensate for larger filter. Measured the dipstick at idle while running, and off.

At idle it read a little below the too high mark. With the engine off it read just a HAIR over the full mark on sticky.

Next on the agenda was a scary one for me because I don't know. My brain does that. Pinkies out! Schmancy.
Eyeballed this amount to add to the carefully measured 16 cups. My measuring cup was allowing fluid to run down the side of cup. Added wide mouth funnel to little funnel to compensate for that. Still managed to spill just enough drops to make me want to compensate.
Here is the old fluid. BEFORE you all freak out... I used the same bucket for catching this as I did the engine oil because I don't have a lot of buckets handy. I suspect there was some tainting going on. As the trans fluid was pouring out of the pan it looked dark, cloudy red.

Worth my time to run a magnet through the old fluid?

 

Yeah I need to set aside a day to do that! How does one tighten the cable?

 

Loosen the front (closest to cable) jamb nut, and then tighten the back. When I did mine I left just a LITTLE bit of slack in mine, but not much.

You'll have to play with it to figure out how much slack to take out of it.

 

Thanks for this. I went out and tightened mine; it was very loose. But I only have one throttle cable, unless I am blind, which it is sunday...

 

Cable on left is for the cruise actuator. The front cable on the right is the throttle, and the rear right cable looks like it goes down to the transmission?

 

What the hell did I just tighten. Mine does not look like that at all, but I have a V8.

I guess I should start the truck and pull the cable that I just tightened to see if it was the throttle. I can't imagine it being anything else.

edit: yup I did the throttle cable. just looks different than your photos. this is why I bought an old truck: turn things, bang on it, etc. and not really worry too much!
