I have a undercover flex tonneau but was thinking for the summer I wanted the tracrac Towers to transport kayaks and things like that. We camp a lot and putting the kayaks in the camper to travel was a pain in the butt. I never really used the tonneau in the summer anyway so it will go back on in late fall / winter.

Anyway I was having a hard time finding a way to install the tracrac without losing the bed rails. I didn’t want to spend $50 for the drop kit so I ended up having 4” galvanized u bolt plates in the shed. I used them to drop the rails, painted them black and clamped the tracrac on the bedsides. It is surprisingly sturdy - I am not going to be able to crank down ratchet straps but sturdy enough for bungees for sure. It is very solid and allows us to strap the kayaks on top and use the front bed rail with fork mounts for bikes and coolers when camping.
