Spare Carrier options

Hi folks. I’m going 35’s and need ideas for a spare carrier. I was leaning primarily toward a hitch mount such as Rigd MegaFit Ultrasing but then saw bed mounts from Wilco. Ideally a hitch mount is preferred but the cost for one has me looking at other wallet-friendly options for the time being. Anyone currently running or have experience with the Wilco Bed mounts below? Suggestions for bed mounts in other brand names is also greatly appreciated.

It will fit under the bed if you remove the guide tabs.

 

Do you not want to mount it in the stock spare location?

 

I will have the CoachBuilder Kit installed soon and from what I’ve read in the forum, the larger CB shackles will prevent a 35 from fitting under the bed.

 

I've spoken to David at Coachbuilder and he assured me that plenty of his customers have run a 35" spare with his shackles. You'll need to remove the tire guides/brackets and have someone help you crank the spare up in place as you center it between the shackles. It's close, but it should fit.

 

It's official. 285-75-18, which is actually a little taller than a 35 WILL fit underneath with Coachbuilder shackles. It's TIGHT, very tight. In fact, the bolt heads on the shackles just barely touch the tread. You must remove the stock guides/brackets and the tire/wheel must be pushed forward at least an inch or so while be jacked up in to place. Definitely a two person job.
