I operate a large skilled nursing center in Portland. My center received these just this week:
    9244552E-FC57-41CD-A60D-A45FA6DFB844.jpg
Turns out, it’s 1000 disposable plastic face shields for Covid PPE.

I didn’t take a picture, but the fasteners that hold the visors to the foam head pad are easily recognizable as automotive upholstery push retainers.

    Funny times, these....

I think it’s awesome and a great idea— repurposing manufacturing like this. Action like this can help fill gaps in PPE supply, and keep employees working during times when demand for their usual products is lessened. I pray we get back to something we can feel is normal soon but, in the meantime, American Ingenuity can take a lot of forms and help us in a lot of ways!

Yeah, a couple wouldn’t start, right out of the box!! Others had horrible rust and electrical problems.

luckily, we won’t have to get into these unless we have an outbreak... HTG that doesn’t happen...

Not that I don't like talking smack about Ford ( because I DO love it), gotta give them props for stepping up.

Glad to see Ford finally gave up on making trucks and is turning to a new market. :rimshot:

All jokes aside, definitely gotta give respect to Ford for stepping up and trying to help out.

Well, in a couple years they should, hopefully, build a mask that is decent. They have been building cars and trucks for a lot of years and still can't make anything decent.

Maybe they can transfer over to adult undergarments

I heard a lot of them get bent frames, something to do with bad bump stop placement.

If you had a tiny head, you could cut the black hose. Other than that, static fit with no adjustment, which is fine.

The real problem with these masks versus the cleanable/non-disposables is the foam. You cannot properly clean this shield, so it gets used by one person only until it is visibly dirty.
    Then, it’s garbage.

Staff have not complained about these, and they are very lightweight, so adherence is better because they are more comfortable and cooler. No complaints from me.

Agreed, other than Ford running its own ad about its efforts, this has gone largely unnoticed by the media and the public.

We received these shields through a grant application to Ford. I think a few pictures of my staff wearing them, and a formal thank you letter is probably in order.
