08 Tundra 5.7L, I noticed a lot of oil seepage behind the AC compressor, looking through the wheel well at the front driver's side of the engine. Can anyone help me ID the source? Is this the cam tower leak I hear about or something else? TIA!

Would that be the timing chain cover?

Might be, it does seem to be coming from the front cover, not the valve cover area like the cam tower thread shows.

I wonder if you could degrease the area then check it after a few runs to try to determine a little more accurately it's point of emergence.

Good idea. I have a road trip planned next week, so I'll try to do it before then. Should be a good chance to tell where it's coming from.

I thought this thread was going to be about Harleys.

    so......
What do Harley Davidsons have in common with pit bulls?

they mostly ride around in the back of pick up trucks and when left alone they usually leave a puddle!

    Any updates ?
I just found a leak today coming from above the A/C compressor just like the pics above.
I tried finding the source with a mirror and a borescope without any luck.
Too much stuff in the way!

No, just living with it for now. I recently changed my water pump and had a better view, but really the AC compressor needs to come out to properly diagnose it.

I even tried google images of the 5.7 to see what would possibly leak above the compressor and could not see anything.
At least it does not look like a cam tower leak!

@fixnfly Looks to be coming from the timing cover. A little better than cam towers, but not by a lot.

Does anyone know of a write-up on the timing cover leak repair?

It’s part of doing the cam tower leak repair (original method) or timing chain tensioner (may want to replace while cover is off), so check some you tube videos for those.

He was troubleshooting a different job, but at least you can watch him take the cover off and walk you through it

If you are diving in there you might as well check the tensioners and chain for slack as shown in this video
