    Hey all,
So my current purchase for a Tundra fell through so I’m back on the market.
I’m looking at 2008 Tundra V8 4X4 with 250k on the odometer. He is asking for 10,999 with a fully set up camping shell insulated with storage. More important than the camper is the mileage. I Know these things last forever but I’m wondering at that price, is that too many miles?
What is the worst case scenario with the truck as far as repairs. He Says all major repairs are done with a suspension and rear brakes done recently as well as a recall on emissions. wondering what to look for with it other than surface rust and a rough transmission shifting.

All help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Crew max? That’s average price for that mileage as they seem to bring bigger bucks

If it’s a Double Cab,in my opinion it’s too high of a price.

I wouldn’t want anything that high in mileage.

I’d be comfortable with less than 200k miles and making the miles go up driving myself

    Welcome!

    What engine?
    Have you checked Craigslist?
Do you have a mechanic set up to check it out?
    I purchased my 2WD '07 5.7L with 270,000 and zero maintenance
records, I have driven it 20,000 and it's been an excellent ride so far.

Have you entered the VIN into the Toyotaowners.com website and looked at the dealership history. You don't have to own the vehicle to enter the VIN. This will tell you all the service that was done at the dealership.

I don't know your area, but that same truck here in the rust belt will be around $8k. I'm betting the present owner will be more than happy to get $8000.

I'm betting the emission recall was just he re flashing of the AIP ECU. You won't be able to do the AIP bypass mod if that is the case.

the Toyota owners website will tell you if it has been done.

My '07 appears in that search just once for something to do with the radio and tires a week after delivery, zero records after that.

I would say one of the deciding factors would be your planned use for the vehicle. If it is a weekend Home Depot run or occasional camping vehicle, then you could consider it. If you plan on using it daily and put 50,000 miles a year on it, then you will be at 300k or 400k soon and that gets up there.
That being said, my coworker is at 300k now and he hasn't had any issues yet.

Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36
Was it SR5 or limited trim? The limited will have leather and more bells and whistles like heated seats and jbl sound system. I think either trim plus 4x4 that’s a fair price with the camper shell included. Those range roughly $800-1500.

I bought a 08 Limited Tundra Dbl Cab last year with 225k miles from a dealership because there were no limiteds for sale in my price range. With tax I spent almost 12k even. I had it inspected by a certified ASE master tech (certified in 7 areas) and certified in ASE structural. It came back perfect with the computer modules being most important and no rust underneath. Only thing I’ve done is valve covers but those wear out over time normal maintenance. The tundra’s will last forever. You can find youtube vids of the dbl cabs 07-08 with a million miles on the original engines and transmissions.

I bought my LEER camper shell second hand for $400, another Tundra Forum member found it for me in my area

your price seems way too high for the miles to me

I think its also very dependent on the market. I live in NW Montana the land of 4x4's and Subarus. Tundras seem to be priced pretty high. I just bought an 07 CrewMax SR5 TRD 4x2, with 180,000. I paid 9000. The same truck was at a dealer for over 11,000 here. I wasn't as concerned about the 4 wheel drive since we already have a 2012 Outback and 2015 Explorer. Ive just wanted a Tundra for a long time to pull our trailer and for needs with our house. So sold my 06 F150 and bought the Tundra the same day!

I purchased a 07 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 4x4 with 211000. I gave 11500.00 that was out the door price. I have owed it for about a year. The animal hospital I work at bought a new Toyota Tundra Crewmax in 2008. The truck currently has over 320000 on it and it has carried a port-a-vet fiberglass box mounted in the bed. We has never had a problem with it so far.

We bought our 2007 DC SR5 with 244,000 for $9,000 because the CarFax print out showed a very good service record, plus the test drive showed the engine ran like new and the transmission shifted perfectly and I've yet to see any oil leaks as far as I'm concerned, I don't think we could have done any better buying a brand new one.
