Just wondering if anyone has painted/plastidipped their 3rd GEN OEM rims. Curious what method worked and would love to see a pic. Thanks.

I just ordered a set of OEM Black wheels. It was just easier for me, I had to consider getting he tired off, blasting the wheels, then getting them to the powder coat place, then I had to get them mounted and put back on all with one vehicle while the Tundra sat on jack stands and the price was 200 a piece. In the Houston area and surrounding areas that is how much it costs. Since then I found a guy but the logistics still would have been tough.9B0122D8-7D29-4C25-B48A-8B56CBEC9E5B.jpg I then ordered black Center caps and painted the emblem black too. Ordered from Cool Springs Toyota.

I have the TRD off road wheels, which if were painted all black, do not look much different than the TRD Pro wheels. I've painted OEM rims before. Since this is my hunting/camping rig, and not my daily, I'm not overly concerned about paint chipping. I don't offroad it that crazy anyways. I'll probably just use the index card method and plan on doing two rims (one side or front/back) at a time, while it sits on jack stands.

Powder coat is more durable BUT I had mine painted 3 years ago and they still look great. Clean up very nice. I have a buddy who’s a painter and we base/cleared them with 4-5 coats of clear.

here’s a pic from last week. He was repainting my bumper ends so I had front end apart. 495CB4E4-6FA7-4ACF-A8C7-89F0C1F15CB6.jpg

For those that powder coated your rims, would a 20" wheel fit in a standard size oven?
