i would only tolerate minimal to not even noticeable shake at those speeds. I feel we pay A significant amount of money for these trucks and should have it ride safe and free of wobble.

i know throughout these 17 pages for discussion it has been mostly positive reviews, but i and you stig got defective tires.

my professional experience with tires takes place driving military trucks and those tires dont even wobble or shake. You may feel the characteristics of an aggressive thread but not wobble or shake.

Brand new, truck had 2,900 miles on it.

 

Just got mine on last week. Love the look of the tire. Can’t wait to put them to use.
Went with a 285/75/18.

 

Here are my new additions. Have not had a chance yet to check pressure but they feel like they are too low, guessing the installer set them about 32/33lbs.

 

Looks good but find some time to check psi. I never trust what the installer puts in.

Plus, checking pressure takes less time than taking photos and posting them here

 

I just checked. Fronts at 34 and rear 37. No wonder it felt a little wonky on the highway. Increased to 39 front and 40 rear....I will see how that feels on the way home from work.

 

Nice! The more I see white letters out the more I wish I'd have put mine out.

 

I have always been a white letter out guy....does back to my first cars- they were always the old used muscle cars that could be had for 1-2 grand. Plus I keep my vehicles clean so white out looks nice. Have to keep them clean if you are running white out.

 

Wanting to pull the trigger on these tires today. So I should be able to put 275/70/18 on my stock suspension TRD wheels without issues right?

I still have some balance issues it seems. Had DT supposedly road force balance them.

Could be I was just getting too used to my wife's Lexus with electric steering after not driving my truck for a few days.

Hate chasing these things!

 

I ordered the tires with my local shop, thanks for the help. Have you noticed big changes in power with the tires, I know they are obviously heavier than the stockers.

 

I do not really see a difference in power. The truck still moves very well- no complaint with power. They are heavier and larger, more aggressive which are harder to move and the larger diameter reduces gear ratio by about 3-4%. Main difference is 1.5-2 MPG drop.

 

I have 275/70/18s on my truck. So far they have been quite and very smooth.

 

Im running 37s in this tire and absolutely love them! I had Duratracs on before this and they aren't any louder or smoother.... about the same in my opinion and I was running about a 33.5 in that tire. Just drove to NC from TX with this tire (1,200 miles) with zero issues.

 

Curious what you all are running for PSI? Mine were installed at 45psi and have left them there. 285/55R20.

Was looking at new shocks to give a bit more plush ride, and thought I better play with tire pressure first. Especially if the 45psi is too high compared to the low/mid 30’s per factory specs.

Have had the tires for a year now (roughly 10k), and love how quiet and smooth they are. Only minor complaint is how they do in ice / snow conditions, but such is life with an oversized AT tire. This is my 3rd Tundra, and none have been exactly great in snow / ice anyhow. May be more indicative of the trucks traction control. So lowering the pressure would hopefully help with that as well.

 

Seems like 45 is pretty high. I run 45 when I tow and 35 when not towing. I go a little lower in snow.

 

Use this as a great tool to get you in the ballpark on correct pressure-

 

I wish Cooper made these in 285/70R18. The 275s don’t seem like a significant enough jump from the stock Michelin’s with the Off-road package. The 295s are bit big and based on my reading and discussing with DirtyDeeds and Coachbuilder, will noticeably impact performance of not regeared.

 

Same here, i have nitto ridge Grappler 285/70/18, and i have been looking also Fallken wildpeaks don’t make this
either the only one i found was the Toyo, i dont really want to regear and to go 295 and this is like the right size of tire for me. If nothing else i might have to go to 295/70/18 .

 

285 won't be much different regarding performance impact. If you're worried about that best bet is to stick with P tires

 

I just replaced the stock Michelin's with 275/70/18 Cooper AT3 XLTs. In my opinion, they are a great upgrade in terms of looks and performance vs. the stock tires. I also debated going up to either 285 or 295s, but couldn't justify the cost and hit in MPG's. You will absolutely notice an impact on performance (acceleration & fuel economy) stepping up to an E load range tire regardless of size. Weight is a big factor and ultimately why I chose to go with the 275s. Anybody who runs larger tires and claims that they didn't notice a loss in acceleration or that the fuel economy isn't that bad is bullsh*tting you.

I've always been a function > form kind of guy anyways, but hey different strokes for different folks.

Probably, but they wouldn't look as good . I wanted a taller tire but didn't want to sacrifice a ton of performance. Also, nobody makes a 275/70/18 in anything other than an E load range. If they did then I would have definitely considered it for my purposes. Ridge Grapplers are really the only decent tire available in the 285 size and they weigh nearly as much as some other brands 295s - not to mention they are more expensive than their 295 counterparts! I do think 295s look the best on our trucks, but require work to make them fit and have a noticeable impact on performance. For me personally, when deciding on what size tire to run it reached a point where there are diminishing returns. Some people are willing to sacrifice performance and don't care about MPGs for the sake of aesthetics. If you plan to re-gear or are running a supercharger then it's probably worth it. I debated tire size for months and have zero regrets choosing to go with the 275s. It works for my intended purposes and was a happy medium between looks vs. practicality.

I swapped out the wheels and tires from my Tundra and I noticed that there's a tire road noise. It was due to different wear patterns between the two vehicles not having the same alignment settings. It will take time for it to wear out.
