Has any one ran these on their tundras, from what I hear its the heat on highway, high speeds that breaks down these tires my usage would be mostly low speeds, dirt roads, and around town, any one have any input, thanks

Are you talking like a retread ? Personally I wouldn't use them because I pull a camper.

I have never ran recapped/retreads, I understand why big rigs use them, to save on cost. A friend of mine ran them on his Jeep (TJ) mainly drove in town, he took them off within a couple of months as the ride was progressively getting worse.
I don't think recapped/rethreads are worth the risk for personal use vehicles, just my two cents.

tire recappers.com, prices are good , I would only run them in summer and fall. Im putting a toy tec 2.5 lift and looking at new rims and tires 34 " tire . I could save almost $500.00 per 4 on a good 10 ply AT or mud terrain.

It's not worth saving $500, to damage a $30k + truck, or new wheels if something happens when you are driving. It would probably cost you more than $500 in repairs.

Im hopeing some one has run them and give me some feed back. I do know a guy that has them, works in the woods, grading roads with good luck but he strictly runs on dirt rds 75% of the time.

If you want a good tire for "cheep" look at AMP tires and also Fury tires. I have a set of amp on my truck they where cheaper then most and I am 100% happy with them.

A link to my set up.

Sounds like to me he has already made his decision. How much tread is left on tires right now?

If you are not down to the tread wear indicator I would keep running them, and save money for legitimate tires.

    If your tires are bald...
I STILL would not run re-treads. Spend the extra $150-$250 and have peace of mind.

    Just my two cents.

My dad ran retreads on the back of a work van once.
Only once. One of the retreaded sections peeled off on the highway and damn near killed us.

They arent worth the cost savings unless some giant leap in technology in their production has occurred since 2007.

Retreads are a choice of desperation on a vehicle that rolls at 60mph.

I work there, so been there, seen it! I've been lucky to not have any tire tread related issues in my 15 years

The drivers or the tires? With all the technology on these things now and with social media it doesn’t take us long to identify problems

Really just the retreads scare me I have been on a motorcycle behind a simi that had a blow out tire pieces going everywhere. That was enough for me. No thanks.

Had a set of retreads on an old Ford LTD, that came with vehicle when I bought it. I didn't realize they were retreads until the RR let go at 65 on the NYS Northway at 9:30 pm. That big old Ford almost went sideways on me. Managed to get it straight and pull off to the side. Put spare on, and made it home. Next day when I looked at the tire, I realized the cap had partially separated from casing. Wife and two dogs were in passenger seat, and she was NOT impressed with the situation. Needless to say, those recaps came off and 'real' tires went on within the week. Never tried a recap again. I have had people tell me it is all about how the recapper tech does the job, but I am not going to trust my life or my families to a recap, ever.

I had a few come apart on me (many many years ago). I would NEVER run them on the front. The cost of replacing one would nullify any savings you may have.

Can you run them on the front? On the buses it’s recaps on the rear only

Good advice in this thread. Be there done that. Not by choice. I would never run retreads on my personal vehicle regardless of where I was driving.

Farm vehicle, maybe, or trailer going 30mph on a back road.
