No argument there, but every state has both sides of that coin depending on where you live in it.

Utah is rated one of the top 5 job opportunity states in 2020. We have experienced astronomical growth over the past several years. We have world-class tech companies in an area we refer to as Silicon Slopes. Utah has a far higher median income than Georgia. I live in Utah and have spent considerable time in Georgia. I can tell you from experience that Georgia has a lower standard of living, generally speaking.

You should put Texas on your list. Beautiful state, great people, inexpensive to live there, housing prices are really good.

We considered very strongly moving to the Arlington area when my wife was offered a job at a hospital there. I can work from anywhere. We ultimately decided to stay close to family and the mountains.

The one down side of Texas is it's all private land. I can leave home and be on a desolate trail in 30 minutes - have to go much further out in TX to get away.

SLC/Utah is definitely more metropolitan than anything I saw in Georgia. We have several high tech clients in SLC that we have calibration contracts with.

It's really strange, Op asked about two states, in one case you bring up 3-4 other states other than the one asked about and the other is too hot. Hey Op, come to Charleston, SC 90 miles north of Savanna. We got Boeing building the 787 here cause no union. We got the new Volvo plant, the Mercedes van plant expanding, apartments going up everwhere, lost track of what else is headed here from up north due to our ports and Business friendly laws. No snow means no salt. I do restaurant equipment repair and made 90k last year. I got 3k sqft place on 4 acres that cost 300k and my property tax was less than 2k. Sorry I don't have Ga info. Yes it's hot in Aug but 70 in Dec.
    .
edit- Ga is #3 behind CA and SC is growing peaches if that is a factor. lol

Moved from CA last March(2019) to SLC and love it. Love the snow for the couple months and don't really mind the cold. Definitely has seasons and is different from CA but we have faired pretty well so far with the two mini men. Bought a house for half as much as we sold ours in CA and it is more than double the size. Someone did mention the market here is inflating, which it is. But since our family loves the outdoors, boating, hiking, camping etc. You'll have fun here.

Never been to Georgia, but lived in UT for several years. My personal preference would be to avoid SLC itself, go for one of the suburbs. Anything on the east side of I-15 tends to be pretty nice and very accessible to the mountains, but there are some places on the west side that are pretty nice too. My brother currently lives in Herriman, which seems like a decent place. You really have a stretch from about Orem up to Ogden with plenty of towns to choose from.

The one thing that really annoys me about UT is the constant construction along the I-15 corridor. Seems like it’s been going on for 15+ years. I swear every time I visit there’s a new, major construction project in the works. That said, there are a ton of companies setting up shop around the Alpine / Highland area, and there seems to be a pretty strong job market (https://www.forbes.com/sites/alyyal...silicon-valley-theres-a-new-tech-hub-in-town/).

Apart from that, the access to outdoors is pretty hard to beat. It really is a beautiful place to live. The summer weather is amazing, the winter snow is so fresh...there’s a lot to like about UT.

I think Salt Lake City and Utah are nice places to visit however I don't think I could live there. Likewise, Savannah is nice but not sure I could live there either. I live in Charleston, SC and am biased towards the coastal south. Given a choice between your two cities of interest I would take Savannah but would consider living in the Bluffton/Beaufort area of SC.

I try and avoid living close to the I-95 corridor, consider some place more inland if you move to the south east.
