Turning Off 3rd Brake Light ?

    I have a 2016 Limited, and a Leer camper shell.
    When I depress the brakes, the red 3rd brake light lights up inside my camper shell , and I wish it wouldnt.

    Can I just remove the bulbs that are in the brake light sockets there?
    or will that trigger some codes ??
