Its an air ventilator, basically. PCV stands for ‘positive crank case ventilation’. Once the engine builds up pressure the air is vented up into the Valve Cover and thru the PCV and into the Throttle Body. Its a one way check valve. If it gets stuck open or closed it can negatively effect the engine.

In my personal case, it was stuck closed due to a good amount of gunk build up between it and inside the Valve Cover upper chamber. Really had to spray it out with doing my VC Seals.

Oil does travel up the hose and PCV, but its more of a film type residue from the hot air engine off gassings.

Went out, warmed up mom's sequioa. Popped the hood out of curiosity because I really wasn't sure what was under there.

If anyone is interested in some Icon 2.0s for the rear, pulled off at just over 40k miles and 3 years....

not leaking, but I’d recommend a rebuild

Ordered up the window belt trim from @Roman shop. Shipping hurts but I couldn't find a better price. It will be nice to get the chipped up wash mit catching exposed chrome crap off my truck and add fresh black trim.

I've been needed to do mine, as you can see, along with the door handle my dad somehow broke.

Yep. It became a running joke. My wife even replaced a few. At one point I couldn't get in the driver door and had to crawl in through the passenger side. When I sold the car I handed the new owner a box of handles and said "you're gonna need these".

Just ridiculously cheap plastic. That entire car was so cheap. It had manual roll down windows. It was a great car though. We sold it at 200K and only replaced the radiator and something my mechanic called the "exhaust boot". I never did figure out what that was.

It's actually been great. No drops or disconnects. Next project will be to tackle a mild system in there with a bit more thump. That stereo is a great base if you don't need a cd tray or nav, though.

Have had the truck two years, turned the rotors once already due to vibrations, needed it again, already, and decided to put the money towards all new stuff instead.

Pretty easy, especially if it isn’t your first time and you know what’s what, that the instructions and videos are generic and may include or omit things your specific truck has, and that the kit may have parts you don’t need.

Aside from figuring that stuff out, the hardest part of the job for me was getting it jacked up on the crap surface I have to work on.

Passengers side: noticed that the "peephole" boot was missing. Will need to order one.
    20200605_192107.jpg
    Drivers side.

Parking brake now holds the full weight of the truck on an incline. Pedal feel is much firmer, and less travel.

    No waaaa waaaa waaaa noise.

Rear end of the truck feels REAL NICE.

Bruce told me that after he had everything buttoned up, and before his test drive he checked the axle fluid. Found it was a little low, so he added some. He never said if it looked good/bad. I should have asked, but was VERY excited to have my truck back.

I checked everything I knew to check before driving it home. Breather included. I learned a lesson today, and added something to my to-do list.

I made the mistake of removing the cap which is spring loaded. By remove it I mean I put my hand on it, and it came apart. Luckily nothing went flying as all of it was in my hand.

Crawled under, and inspected. Put everything back together in the order it came apart. Seated the cap, and tightened the lower open end of cap in a few spots with my trusty 12 year old Leatherman Kick.

Didn't feel it was necessary raising hell over something that had no tamper marks, and was not messed with.
