Trade my 2014 CM 4x4 (3/2 lift) for a 2020 CM 4x4 (6 inch lift)? *advice helped, thanks everyone*

So my situation is should I trade my 2014 CM 4x4 mgm (3/2 lift) for a 2020 CM 4x4 (6 inch lift).

should I Embrace the 2014 i have like 4 years left to pay on it but planned to pay it off in the next 6 months or should i start over with brand new?

The smart me says stick with my 2014 with 71k on it... she's still looking good.

The stupid me says go brand new bigger lift....

If it was me I would stay put. Basically the same truck, and 70K miles ain't bad man.... Save the $$$

stay with this truck.. take the money you'll save and transform it into everything you've ever wanted it to be.. a TRD Pro gets you a new grill, stamped bedsides, headlights and leather.. no offence, love the idea of it but its not like you can buy a nicer truck than you already have

 

See i totally agree and this is what the smart me is telling me.

i posted here because The temptation has over come me so i had to reach out to my second family. My tundra family to hopefully talk sense into me

 

My gut says keep what you've got, and enjoy not having payments, in six months.

Of course, this is coming from a guy that went to look at Tundras, to consider "maybe, possibly going to a truck from a wagon for a growing family", and came home with a gently used Platinum.

 

Save your money. It’s the same truck for a price premium. The maths are bad on that move. Also, lord only knows what’s going to happen economically and it’s better to have less consumer debt to allow you flexibility if you need it.

 

Yeah, stick with the 2014.
Paid off is a fabulous feeling and 70,000 miles is low if you're taking care of it.
Think of all the $$$ you will save by NOT having a truck payment any longer!

Unless there are features in a 2020 that you cannot add yourself AND you consider them must haves, there's no reason to go deeper in debt. Anything you can't add to your truck is going to be minor so, as it says under your name, Don't sweat the small stuff.

seriously, what more could you want? I'd trade my truck in on your truck before I traded it in for a new one
my girlfriend asked me why I keep spending money on my truck and I don't just buy a new one and the answer is simply this...

... anyone can go out and buy a brand new truck. not everyone can have a truck that's 10 or more years old in brand new condition
the older your truck, the better the shape its in, the higher the cool factor. its linear

Stick with your truck. There's really no huge differences in what you have and a 2020. My bet is you'd be all pumped for a week or two and then regret it

 

@Ted4311 Why not change your current lift to 6" and then you essentially have that "new" truck but save yourself many years of payments that can become other mods?

 

Another vote here for keeping the 2014, paying it off and then putting a 6" lift on it (though your truck looks awesome the way it is now).

 

Stay with 2014. Next generation tundra is around the corner

 

Keep that beautiful 2014 and save your $$$. Do something new to the 14 and it will feel new just as long as the 20 will.

 

Ive had 5 new trucks in 4 years. Just keep it and save your money. My rule is if I have to have a payment don't do it. I learned I would have been still be happy with my FJ $200k later.

 

Very well said guys. I really do appreciate all of you taking the time and being honest. Reading through these posts helped me make sense of why my current truck is a keeper.

It was much needed because the temptation was getting the best of me and I wasn't thinking logically.

Its the engineering way talk it out until it makes sense then make a decision.

Lol everyone else was being logical about it. Honestly I would wait to see what the redesign is then go from there!

 

If it were me OP, I would keep it for financial reasons mostly. A question you should ask yourself is “what any I gaining by getting the new truck?” Two inches height, 71k less miles, and newer but for the most part the exact same trucks. Your call ultimately. I would be very leary of those 6 inch lifts due to permanent modifications. I can be mistaken on that part for Tundras though...

 

Yeah after reading the insight here, it has made me see the value I already have, and what I need to embrace.

This chat in this thread was much needed because I almost made a costly decision.
