I have 4 free ones with my truck when I bought it and I’ll let them do those 4 but after that I’ll do them myself because I just don’t trust people to do simple tasks.

That's 4 too many in my opinion. As a former Tech myself, the stories you hear about Dealerships delegating oil changes to complete morons is completely, and accurately true.

My 17 has never seen the dealer other than an ECU reflash. There’s no way I’ll let them do my oil changes.
I log everything, keep receipts and I also have a 100k warranty.
I’ve swapped skid plates and added a Fumoto valve and the changes are a piece of cake. I do it every 5k to keep my warranty in tact. (Flex fuel)

It was a Christmas gift. I'm sure it was Ebay.

First of all, report back to the dealership. Make them fix it. Don’t just fix it yourself and let them get away with it. You paid for this service and you need to hold them accountable.

Secondly, you’ll receive a survey from Toyota about your service experience. Make sure and fill it out, especially if this isn’t fixed to your satisfaction. These surveys are a big deal to the dealerships, not to mention it leaves a record should you have issues in the future.

On a related note, here’s a tip for everyone: Mark your wheels in some way before taking the truck in for service. Twice I’ve caught a dealership not actually rotating my tires because I do this.

Please do share this information here. We have a thread specifically for it:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/dealership-experience.45850/

For one thing, this helps others in your area get an idea of how their local dealerships operate. For another, the thread will come up if the dealership does a google search for their name. They’ll see if someone reports a bad experience, and hopefully use it as an opportunity to correct it.
I’m pretty sure the one I use has seen my comments there. When I dropped it off a while back, the service guy asked “Is that the War Machine?” I assume it’s from them seeing my report on that thread.

My truck will never visit the dealer for any of the free oil changes I received when I bought it. My dealer offers a lifetime powertrain warranty if I do all service with them so I'll be voiding that as soon as I approach 10K miles and change my own oil, but I'm not worried. I've had too many issues with them doing sloppy clean up jobs on my Camry and my Highlander to allow them to touch the truck. I've brought both the Camry and Highlander back just to have them clean-up dripping oil left by their middle school dropouts (sorry if anyone on here is a middle school drop out). They also installed my Highlander's filter housing so tight that I couldn't remove it. I ended up breaking the housing and went to them 10K miles after they over-tightened it and made them loosen it and give me a new housing for free! I'll do it myself and know it's done right.

Oh I’m going to make them do everything when I take it. The service package that came with the truck takes care of everything. I’m going to have them wash the truck and rotate the tires and everything if I’m going to bother taking it up there.

Yea, we have non-certified people that specifically do oil changes at my dealership. They are not bad kids, they just don't seem to pay attention to what they are doing. I try to take care of every vehicle like it's my family's. Any place can have bad employees. Sorry you had to go through that.

I actually bought mine used at a GM dealership and got their service package included. I thought it was kind of weird that they were willing to give a service package on a truck they don’t even sell. But oh well.

I haven’t had them do it yet but this isn’t a normal wash. They have an auto butler wash system where they wash it by hand and then they run it through this Auto Butler machine which essentially puts a sealant on top of the paint to prevent scratches. Toyota dealerships don’t have them but I get it free twice a year for the next 5 years so I’ll definitely be using it.

I had an issue similar to this with my Tacoma. Took it for oil change after work, and came home. I left for work in the dark the next morning and parked. When I was going out to lunch I noticed a puddle under my car, it didn't rain and once i got under, it was about 2 quarts of oil. Took the dipstick out and sure enough, there was no oil in the engine. My wife gets home and tells me there is a huge oil spill in the driveway. Once I got a hold of the service manager, I tell him that they need to come get my truck and inspect that no damage has been done to the engine by driving wtih no oil. Plus I tell them they need to come clean and pressure wash my driveway.

It took a few back and forth calls but in the end they cleaned my driveway and gave me a free oil change for next time. The issue was that the tech left the old O-ring from the filter in the engine and just put the new one in.

Well, they damaged the oil filter cap while doing the original oil change, sait it was bent.... bs they damaged it by over tightening it, anyhow they put a new one on, checked it after driving 30 miles to the house dry as bone as ut should be. They are also ordering me a new hub cap.

Agreed I would be reluctant to even let them try if they are so bad that they could screw up an Oil Change, thats all it took for my Dealer/Family to become Dead to Me!
