Am I missing anything?

Hello all, long time lurker. So I am about to pull the trigger on one of the few remaining TRD Pro's in New England that is white. It is supposed to arrive at my dealer on June 8-10. I am going on Saturday to reserve it and have them assess my trade. I have been thinking about buying a Tundra for about 4 years now. I have a somewhat specific job requirement so I was just making sure I was not missing anything.

For reference, I currently drive a 2018 Volvo XC90. It is a wonderful SUV. It is super safe, drives awesome, is incredibly safe, and the stereo is great. That being said it is a big of a hassle for me to get gear out of it, and I can't stand on it.

I am a professional real estate photographer. I drive about 20,000 miles a year. In my cargo space now I have a large Pelican 1615Air case with my camera, tripod, and other accessories in it. Behind that I have a second Pelican case specifically for my Phantom 4 Pro drone. I have a third Pelican case for a Ronin S Stabilizer with a 4th access set of handles on it for my video rig. I keep this in the back left passenger seat. Basically I drive from 4-8 houses a day and I need to access all of this gear constantly. But for the gear to fit in the current storage systems I have now I have to assemble and disassemble it every time. I am looking to avoid this.

My plan is to get a Tonneau cover and a Truck Vault storage system. I have about $40,000 worth of gear. I need to make sure it stays dry and safe. It would also be great to be able to access everything by pulling out a drawer or two. I just need to measure all of my gear and see if I could fit it in one of their half units which would allow the other half of the bed to remain deep. Also, occasionally it's nice to be able to have some elevation to take pictures of the fronts of houses if they are on a hill. So I could stand in the back.

I have a 6 year old daughter and we aren't having anymore kids. She is becoming more and more active and we will be a bit more adventurous as she gets older. My wife drives a 2019 XC60 so we still have an SUV if need be.

One of the concerns I have had is that the open nature of a pickup back will not have a tailgate when it rains. But I only shoot houses in the rain very occasionally so I could plan accordingly and just keep the gear in the cabin.

Anyways, I have thought this through for about 2 years and am about to pull the trigger I just thought I would ask all of you if you think I am missing something.

I love the reliability. I don't care about the gas mileage as I am sick of using premium so it will be offset cost wise. Also I have never had a pickup before so I figure might as well get a good one. Anyways I am looking forward to getting it.

I plan on doing the grab handle, the Truck Vault, Tonneau, and likely the stereo in some capacity, although I hate modifying stock head units because I usually don't keep vehicles that long. I know this is counter intuitive to buying something like a Tundra but I hate being out of warranty and like getting good trade in values when I buy new.

Oh one other thing, how is the lower back support? I have a bulging L4/L5 and my Volvo seats are incredible.

Welcome from Ontario Canada , as far as a tonneau cover goes you could always get a cap instead that would give you the extra room if you had to shoot in the rain . I can’t honestly say about seat comfort as I don’t have one .

Coming from a Volvo to a Tundra Pro? Get ready to have a smile on your face every time you start that 5.7 and hear that rumble. Back seat has TONS of space for equipment or passengers. Tonneau cover will serve you well, but a shell topper might be better for your use.
I do not believe my 19 PRO has any lumbar adjustment in the seat. Having said that, the seat supports my back just fine. I don't think you will be disappointed with the Tundra TRD Pro, especially in Super White.

I have a diamondback cover. It keeps everything I have safe and secure, provides a great elevated place to stand which could be useful in your profession, and is waterproof. Just a thought.

mid not the backseats in the crewmax fold up and provides quite a bit of room.

I think all of the Truck Vaults are made of wood too and not something that I would want in the back of an open truck.
Any truck with a cover will be open when you least need it to be too!

As long as you have the gear in a Pelican you hardly need to worry about the stuff inside or at least I sure don't.

    Have you driven the Tundra?
I can not imagine a more different vehicle for you but they are great and if setup right should get the job done and more.

I think a Diamondback cover might be just the thing too,Strong,Watertight mostly and flexible and secure.
You can lock it down and away from prying eyes but also flip it back for access and ability to stand in the bed as needed.

Check out a hard flip back tonneau cover(I have a lowmax and love it) and maybe a "decked system" for slide out drawers to store your gear in.

Tundra pro is extremely comfortable and very spacious for family and work.

    You will not be disappointed

So it gets cold in the northeast. Are you doing work in the winter? How cold stable is your gear your going to be back there. Your batteries for your equipment may not like that.

    Just something to consider.

Also a sequoia might fit the bill for you.

    Welcome from NY.

Diamondback cover and a bed slide probably would be your best bet.

There's a dealership in Kingston, NY that has a white PRO that has been sitting there since February.

I like my Leer canopy. Essentially doubles the amount of space in my bed and I think canopies tend to be more waterproof than tonneau covers from what I've heard.

My mistake, the trd pro has 10 way while the platinum has 12. I don’t recall what the different adjustment was.

Others have said it, I'll echo it - The diamondback cover would be perfect for you. I frequently carry medical equipment in the bed of my truck that exceeds $100K, and I have full confidence that everything back there will stay dry, and is safer in my bed than it would be in the cab. Not only that, but the Diamondback can hold up to 1,600lbs on top of it - so it would give you a nice platform to stand on to get those elevated shots you'd like. That's just me two cents though.

Nice thanks for the replies. I am going to the dealership tomorrow to try to negotiate the transaction. I am paying sticker. I have never bought a car and not gotten less than 12% off but I also teach economics so I understand how this works. However they are trying to screw me on the interest rate. 5.7% for a 60 month. And they low balled my trade. So I am selling my XC90 to my friend and getting a new car loan through a local credit union for 2.74%. Basically I will remove the dealership from the equation as much as possible. They are scummy but they are the only ones with a white pro incoming.

It is supposed to be here June 8th-10th. Its on a train. It has 'classic black' running boards, spray in bed liner, and silver door sill protection. Stickering at $55 and change.
