What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

damn how did you do that? I saw something early that said something about sanding the inside. I have the older cluster so maybe its a different process.

Yes I would think so.

 

Get yourself a 120 grit sanding sponge from big box. They will perform better and last longer than sand paper. Grab some micro fiber towels to pull the dust off. Flip the towel and wipe things down with Isopropyl Alcohol to remove the final contaminants.

 

@jImmegart you could use 1000-2000 grit if you have it, but it will clog fast. Also, when you bend the paper back on that high grit paper it tends to scratch things on the creases. A sanding sponge works nicely. Just keep it easy pressure when the sponge is new until you wear it down a bit.

Cleaned up the headlights a little.

Just buying time until I get my truck cleaned up (shine the paint and touch up all the chips from rocks etc) and decide projectors are the way to go.

The inside of the housing seems dirty. I don't get any condensation but it's definitely not clean as you can see at the bottom of the picture.

Purchased Valvoline Dex/Merch. Will at least do a transmission fluid touch up to start off.

Also, purchased ten feet of my ¼" hose from the local Rural king. Not sure if that will be sufficient quantity, but its a start.

Once the truck is out of the shop anyway.

Heard from Alcan today. Leaf springs are shipping today. Should be here June 5th.

Edit: was reading a few posts by my role model... really liking his idea of a full fluid flush using the supply/return lines from tran.

While they are unhooked I can prep the 1 year old radiator, and hook up tran lines to lower housing like the V8 model.

This will delete my seperate tran cooler.

Been thinking that although everything is warm after warm up, but transmission due to seperate fluid cooler. I was noticing that in the beginning of the day shifts are not as smooth as later on after driving for about 15-20 min. This is an idea so who knows...

Hey man... A stopped clock and all. There was no way that tool was going in without a slight massaging of material around the edges.

Not related at all, but does anybody know how to disable the airbags on an 06 Tundra? Asking for a friend that may or may not feel like driving in a city sometime between now and next year and doesn't really feel like ending up like Mussolini when the mask and baseball bat crowd tries to go all barbeque.

 

Disable the airbag? Unplug the bags. Done. Constant light though

Washed my truck last night. I was excited to see the water bouncing off the wax. The soap had a glide like never before and it washed off quickly. Interesting thing was it was much harder to dry the truck than before. I suppose I'll use the air compressor next time since the water seems free to move but doesn't like to be absorbed.

 

Didn’t you block me last year? Maybe reach back up and hit that button again?
