Got her running!

Well hello again and hope that everyone is staying healthy and safe. Finally got her to run on Saturday and the engine purs like it should after a nightmare fix on a huge electrical short. Traced every line, checked for continuity, cut, solder, splice and patched it up. She's finally turning over. Last three items before she's road worthy 1. brake lines, can someone confirm the diameter of these brake lines that sit under the driver side. Will try and get OEM unless price is very dealership like. How much is it or is it just as good to go to Auto store and bend it yourself vs pre-bend line. 2. Other issue is the stuck hood. Cable is bad, can't tug on it and accidentally dropped the hood a little too hard and closed it. How do I get around that? 3. Last, is muffler from a 2017 interchangeable with 1st gen or only good from late 2nd gen to present? TIA

Yeah was about two weeks worth of work and a lot of patience. Got the hood popped open just now, went from the underside, coat hanger and snaked it to the left over cable, pulled it down and got it to free up. glad there was enough of it left!

Me either! LOL, but my oldest project involves more wiring from an LS swap to an S2000, this prepared me for it mentally. That job will be way easier than this one! It's much worse toward the front of the tub connectors we're melted and wires fused together. So glad the fuse popped like it was designed to do.

 

The owner I bought it from hot wired a battery charger for his RC airplanes to the truck, ran the cables through the main harness and hood cable section and this is the result of the short... Was going to use the old molding, cut out the bad section, plexiglass and glue in a new cover so you can see the repaired cables since the new piece I ordered is a lighter grey color.

Thank you Aperezsh! Will be a great truck for us! Frame is still decent, 93k miles on it and everything works! Minus the said brake lines that needs to be replaced and hood latch. That's on order.

Not that I can smell it, maybe my nose is toast! Been looking for new rims and tires, LED light bar and fog lights going on later. Glad we were able to save her with such low mileage it would be sacrilege to junk it. I do have to say, it's very frustrating looking for a replacement harness, for all of Toyota's infinite wisdom, they can't tell you what harness it needs even with the Vin #. So I had to go the route that I did.

 

My next project... We're going Toyota based now from Honda's just to switch it up. If only we had more room to store cars! LOL

So I found out a trick that seems to work for me... I buy these vehicles and then I give them to the Mrs and borrow them once in a while! Happy wife, happy life right right? She now has three vehicles and I only have 2 at the moment.
