    Here’s why it’s a big deal to me: I was at a friend’s house back in middle school. His mom comes home from the grocery store and tells us she found a new flavor of Kool Aid, Purplesaurus Rex. She makes us some, and we fall in love with it. We drank the hell out of it that summer. He later moved away, and I didn’t see him for a few years. I ran into him again at a basketball game in high school and the first thing we talked about was how they’d discontinued the stuff.

    So anyway, he joined the Marines after school, went to Iraq, and unfortunately didn’t make it home. I grew up with him, but for some reason that damned Kool Aid flavor stuck with me more than everything else I remember. I was just telling some guys at work last week how it was the best Kool Aid flavor of all time. When I saw it in the store the other day I damned near died laughing. It’s like he sent me some for old times sake.
