2006 SR5 DC Desert Sand Mica
    Greetings.

Owner of new-to-me 2006 SR5 DC in Desert Sand Mica. 135K miles and super clean and stock, maintenance records, etc. It's had a soft life here in AZ. Only additions I can find are aftermarket step rail and an ill-fitting Rugged Liner drop-in. Within 24 hours it was hauling two children and a dog to school (dog had to come back home).

Been cruising the forums. So far fixed a rattling driver's door mirror, secured loose front bumper with missing 9mm plastic plugs, and made furious efforts to rid interior of hideous Cherry Surprise™ car wash fragrance. Baking soda, vinegar, de-stink solutions. Now on to bed cargo and other projects - specifically need good bicycle-hauling solutions for the bed (prefer wheel on, lockable, no tailgate pads). Already have a hitch carrier. Also researching tie-down points - 2006 DC cab doesn't have the same holes used in most of the unistrut mod threads. Also thinking about a rear sway bar. Road trip this weekend.

    Two stories:

3 hours after I bought it, deserted stretch of road, thought I'd try full throttle and see what happens. Truck takes off, 2 seconds later there is a huge WHA-BAM! from right under my seat, shakes the whole cab floor. "Holy crap, driveshaft?! Rear end break? Dammit my new truck!" Throttle's still responding, no banging sounds. Pull over and inspect underneath, hmm... nothing obvious. Climb back in and see it: the rear seat was folded forward DC-style. It slammed back down when I took off! I'll recognize that sound next time.:p

Same day, cleaning the interior I found a zippered bank bag (exactly matched upholstery) tucked down by passenger seat with a pay stub deposit and $500 cash for PO's employee. I returned it. Owner was pleased to "find" the $500 he had lost.

Is that your truck? How's it look today? Any mods?

I'm curious because I also picked up a desert mica sand truck and looking for update ideas.

    Thanks!
