Just bought my 2015 SR5 Double Cab a few months back but the rear shocks need to be replaced. The truck has the TRD off-road package so it came with Bilstein 4600 shocks (#48530-0C031). I am not really interested in getting any kind of lift so my first thought is to just replace with the OE Bilstein shocks. I do some mild off-roading, so would it be worth it to upgrade to something different? Could I even do that if I still have the OE shocks on the front? Budget is a factor but I would spend a little more for a better quality shock if that's what is recommended.

Have the fronts been replaced already? I gotta think of the rears are shot, so are the fronts.

The fronts have not been replaced. It has about 45K miles on it, and apparently the previous owner must have done some serious towing to wear down the rear shocks so soon.

Is it the shocks or the leaf springs?

My rear leaf springs flattened very quickly. I didn't tow much and never had a load that even came close to capacity.

    Also welcome from Utah!

I put on 6112s in the front and 5160s in the back and love them! They really soak up the bumps. Ran me about 1100 for the set with the fronts already assembled, i agree with @Backslider the it could be the leaf springs, mine are wore out and I need to replace them as well

I think it's just the shocks. So if I were to put in 5100s in the back and keep the 4600s in the front how would that affect lift heights?

Well, at lowest setting the 5100s still have a 0.75" lift to them. You may have a slight rake but if you have an aftermarket bumper it probably wouldn't be so bad.

I'd replace them all at the same time.

With 5100s or 5160s in the back it wont affect your ride height unless you add shackles or blocks. The shock wont lift your truck, it just helps with the rebound. the leaf spring is what will make your truck keep its height. If its worn, your rear end will sag.

Whoops. @Sumo91 is correct. The front shocks have some lift to them. Rear, none.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have decided to go ahead and replace all 4 with the 5100s. Can you tell from the photos if my leaf springs are worn and would also need replacements?

Did the ride improve after installing the 5100's?
