Hi - New member here looking for a little buying/negotiation advice. After searching for a while I found a clean 2008 Double Cab 4w TRD with 78K for sale half way across the country from me. According to TrueCar the used dealer has had this for sale for almost a year and the history report shows title transfer info as of Nov. 2019. After looking at the pics on the used car dealers site, I contacted them and asked for a few more photos of the frame and undercarriage after seeing rust through the wheel wells. When they sent new photos, the frame had a fresh undercoating and "sealant" applied. I then proceeded to call a Toyota dealership in their area to see if the truck qualified for the frame replacement and they confirmed via the VIN that the truck was still eligible, but needed to be brought in for the inspection. After a short negotiation with the used dealer, they agreed for me to set up an appointment and have the truck inspected. Toyota has confirmed that the truck is eligible and the frame will need to be replaced, quoted a 2-3 month timeframe for all parts to be delivered. Dealer asking price is $15,9 and they just said they are not willing to discount the truck at all. What do you guys think is a fair price and how do you even begin to negotiate on this sort of whacky deal?

Thanks a ton in advance for any advice.

KBB is saying it's worth closer to $11K. Sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth in my opinion. Used cars are selling at a discount right now, I would look elsewhere.

Quick question this toyota dealer is willing to do a full warranty frame replacement? Curious because 2 yrs ago my 08 didn't have much of any rust and they would only coat it. Wonder if I could get a new frame now

Yeah, full frame and attachments. According to the info from the dealer, the truck is eligible until 01/2021.

Interesting. I pulled a NADA on it and clean retail is $15,9. Have any screenshots?

My truck just rolled 90 I have alot of aftermarket stuff into it and I wouldn't expect to get any more then 17k just because it's an 08. You will always pay a little more at the dealership of course.
My truck as it sits. Taken today

NADA is always high...I used fair condition due to the frame issues and unknown other issues, so that may be low balling it some, I think you can find a better deal, but I also don’t know all the details.
