I have a 2017 Tundra DC with a build date of 3/17. I see in attached video published 12/17 that the controller has two electric brake settings - one for greater than 5,000 lbs and one less than 5,000 lbs. The selection is made from the display. My controller only has one setting for electric brakes which is made from a hard-wired switch on the controller marked "Type". I had the update for the controller programming done per TSB-0231-17 last year but I just noticed this is different hardware and has the ability to select type based on trailer weight. Does anybody know the difference in the control logic between these two versions? Is there a technical description available? Is mine upgrade-able to the newer version which I am assuming was implemented with the 2018 model year?

I would not even worry about trying to upgrade a stock controller. If you want an upgrade swap in a P3.
