    Hey Fellas,
Ok, so I lifted my truck and put 295/70/18 Ridge Grapplers. I completely forgot about the spare . The spare is still the OEM 275/65/18. For some of you that did the same, what did you do with the spare. Did you get matching tire or left it with he smaller tire ?

You can't use 4 wheel drive with a smaller tire in the front. It's best to have the same size spare. If you look at the little donuts that some cars have for spares, the tire says on it, don't drive more than 50 mi. I think the tire will last for far more than 50 miles but what you're doing to the diff is causing a lot of extra heat.

Will an after market 18X9 wheel with a 295/70/18 tire on it fit where the original spare is?

You would be fine in a bind to get you off the road and to a service station to get the tire replaced. If you have a rear flat not using 4wd then put the spare up front and good tire back. Front flat so long as you're not using 4x4 will be ok as the front diff does nothing anyways as its disconnected in 2wd.

I just threw a matching BFG AT on my spare, just in case.

Just got done modding my spare guide tabs.

Cooper AT3 XLT 295/70/18 on scs wheel was not even close to fitting with the original guide tabs.

I drilled out the rivets in case I want to reinstall the guides further out. For now I left them off and I think it's fine.

Only thing is, in a rear end collision, the hitch normally gets slammed into the spare tire. Nothing is really stopping it from moving further forward and hitting the diff with the guides removed, but that'd be a pretty big slam to go that far.

When I got my new tires, I purchased the cheapest 20inch rim the guy had and mounted 1 of the older tires that was still in perfect condition.

Was like $50 out the door as the rims were discontinued and they only had 2 total left.
