Question. Did you ground the antenna with a grounding strap to anything under the hood or does it work fine without one? I’m about to do the same thing.

there is a large rubber boor tor the main wiring harness that comes through by the ebrake the carpet is tabbed so you can just peel back a couple tabs. i used a 1/4 rod with a sharp point ground on one end an taped the coax to it and just threat it through from the engine side since i was using the fire ring cable.FW.jpg FW2.jpg

    Very nice.
Did you ever think about adding a spring at the bottom of the antenna? I was asking because of the height and driving on he highway the wind resistance may put strain on the mounting bracket. I mounted mine on my ditch light bracket and I'm thinking about adding the spring. What do you think about my question and reasoning?

    Some stuff
don't overthink it. you shouldn't need one. i've never had a grounding strap for either cb or ham. not on the tundra, not on the fj before it.

the fire fly is very flexible and does not need a spring. but i am using a quick disconnect on it.
