Took my first family vacation trip in my new 2020 Tundra this Memorial Day weekend. Filled up my tank in Eagan, MN, set trip odometer and jumped on the interstate. Was not towing just three adults and a dog in the cab, with the box full of coolers, food, tools, compressor and other stuff. Once out of town set cruse at 75 mph for around 100 miles then got off the interstate onto a two lane highway for the rest of the trip north to the cabin. Truck had just under 1300 miles on the odometer when we left.

When we arrived (about 160 miles) the truck computer said 18.9 mpg. The next day I took a short drive to my brothers land, gravel road and brothers long rutted dirt driveway.

Left the cabin Monday heading home, computer was now showing 18.4 mpg. As I drove home the computer mpg slowly improved and was showing 18.9 when home. I stopped at the same gas pump and filled up, (330.4 miles total) then used a calculator to check mpg. Couldn't believe it, the same 18.9 mpg! Don't know if this is just a coincidence, so I am now going to hand calculate my mpg for a while to see.

When I bought this truck I hoping for over 17 mpg on road trips. I realize I won't see almost 19 mpg every time, but I'm very happy with this. At 1600 miles the truck isn't even broke in yet, so could still improve.

My 2020 Pro is the 4th Tundra I've owned and has surprised me with the best MPG of any of them. We currently still own a 2008 that my wife drives. My truck has 16,000 miles and I'm averaging 16 mpg with approximately 40% being city driving. My wife has a similar commute and is averaging 15.4 on the '08 which is what I use to get when I drove it. Keep in mind, these are summer numbers. Only averaged 14.3 this past winter on the 2020 and 14 on the 2008. '08 doesn't have remote start so she didn't have the luxury of warming up....;)

I never check my mpg. I I know that Toyota states 13-15 or something like that. I assume I'm getting between 10 and 15, maybe 13 overall. I'm never gonna notice the cost difference over a few mpg, especially the way gas prices are now. Just not worth my time to worry about.

If gas got up to $6 per gallon I might start to consider my driving habits

I did a road trip in my '18 SR5 to Washington DC, mostly interstate. At one point I was hitting 20mpg, by the time I got back to SC and hit some back roads getting home it drop back to 19.something. Keep your foot out of it it's not that bad.
