First let me say I have searched this forum for a few weeks now looking for anyone reporting a similar issue with no luck.

As stated in the title my truck is a 2008 4.0L V6, 114,xxx miles on it. I don't normally drive my truck on a regular basis as I have a company vehicle, but I got hurt about two months ago and have been on light duty so I had to start driving it.

First start up of the day and the truck fires right up like it's supposed to, now 3 or so hours later when I go to leave the office for lunch, it doesn't want to start, it'll cycle through the 5 second start up twice and will always fire up on the third try. Or it will start on the first try but sputter and bogg down before smoothing out.

I recorded a video to give a better idea, link is below, sorry for the long post but I hope this may be able to help someone else out in the future.

This happens everyday that I drive the truck and outside of this issue, the truck runs and drives completely normal. No CEL or anything.

I found several write ups on Hard to start after warm or extended cranking after hot couple people talking about dirty throttle bodies, injectors that are staying stuck or dirty or a crank sensor that can be going bad they talk about reading Fuel pressure wen the problem happens to see if it’s at 41 but a lot of fixes with cleaning TB and Injectors if you don’t have the tools to diagnose FP or injector pulse I would recommend running a bottle of seafoam thru the tank it will not hurt anything and it’s the cheapest and easiest thing you can do.

Cleaning the TB Is not bad either wen a cold vehicle starts up the TB blade is open slightly to suck in more air so the engine can get hot and idle goes back to normal it’s the electronic version of a old car with a choke wen the car is warm or hot the blade is somewhat closed but if carbon is blocking the air from coming in than the car will have hard starts so 2 things that are easy and cheap to do before replacing injectors or crank sensor hope this works out for you keep us posted

May be a bad fuel pump, as you may have air, spark, but no fuel. Also get your battery tested, low batteries can create head scratching issues... My battery has done similar things... stutters before starting and once it starts it will drop systems one at a time until it stalls out in Park or Drive.. maybe just my truck though, it acts weird at times..... I've also relegated my truck to back up duties and I barely drive it now...
I've attached a link to a thread you find helpful...
Probably less expensive to take it to a local mechanic and get a pre-purchase inspection with a possible issues. As stated above sea foam in the tank, just ensure you have at least 15 gallons in there...

I have a 2012 with the same engine, haven't had an issue like this but i do have a small vibration when coming to a stop and I am not sure what it is or if ti could be my side exit exhaust.
