I would like to make a comprehensive list of mods that will void our factory warranty. As of right now that is one of my main concerns, I know more recent Tundra owners can benefit from the knowledge out the veterans. It’s my second tundra but my first was purchased used so I never bothered to think about this issue. Thanks for your shared knowledge!

Welcome, I think first you should be aware of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which makes it illegal for an auto manufacturer to deny a claim because you used an aftermarket part. If you installed aftermarket suspension and then your motor blew up, they would have to prove that the suspension caused that. If you installed a supercharger and then your motor blew, you may have a harder time. Same example; if you installed a lift kit with 37's and then your steering rack blew out, its going to be difficult to repair suspension parts under warranty but not anything that wasn't affected by the lift. The burden of proof lies entirely on the dealership. Doesn't mean they won't try to pull your chain but you are protected

I haven't researched it but, based on the fact that we don't have a decent lemon law in Canada, I assume we don't have anything similar to this act either.

Lemon law and modding are two different things.
If you want to mod it but are worried keep it simple, exhaust, wheels, tires, LEDs, dress up, etc.
Once you start heavily affecting engine or suspension like Jimbo said the dealer will definitely put the issue on your mod, and it would be hard to prove otherwise.

If I were to twin turbo my Mustang and keep blowing through clutches, that wouldn't be a lemon and definitely would never be warrantied.

If my Mustang was bone stock, and kept blowing through clutches for no reason, that is borderline a lemon (there are restrictions and definitions on what exactly is considered a "lemon").

I’ll pull my truck into the shop first. They’ll puke and pull my registration. Then pull yours on and won’t have a stitch of an issue in comparison:rofl:

In all honestly, it seems dealer specific. I’ve had some dealerships be stingy and some warranty everything. Ask before buying and installing. :hattip:

Don't misunderstand my comment. I know the difference between mods and a lemon. I'm just saying the laws in Canada that I know about are weak and tend to favour the corporations, rather than the consumers.

Funny story for you - From 2000 to 2006 or so, I worked at race track (oval/drag) in the drag tower running the timing system.

We had several new 5.0 mustangs that would show up on a Thursday nite (Test/Tune) session. One Thursday evening we got a call
in the tower telling us a lady will be coming up to sit and watch for a bit. We said sure.

Evidently this lady was from a local Ford Dealership looking for specific Mustangs that possibly could be there.
She had indicated to us that several Mustangs had been coming in for extensive engine damage and were being repaired
under warranty and she was there to try and "spot" them in an attempt to document their drag racing and prevent future
    warranty claims.

Luckily for the mustang owners, they either were not there on that nite or the lady couldn't catch them in the act...
