I searched and have read some info on Techstream and getting it to work to change settings and such.

it is not clear to me where to get the software that definitely works. I think the cable seems fairly straightforward to buy. Also, can I program my own keys with this?

dealer wants $120 just to program one key so if I can buy a working techstream setup for similar money, I’d do that and enjoy being able to change settings too.

    thanks!

Yes you can program keys and remotes with TechStream. I found a copy on-line that didn't have a virus but that was 5 years or so ago. Maybe someone else has a link to help you out.

Don't go to a Stealer for keys!

Go to a quality locksmith. Cothron's in Austin did 3 keys & 2 fobs for $55 and 10 minutes...

I bought two blank keys off of Amazon and had the local hardware store cut them (they did it for free). I then used Techstream to program them to the truck. As for FOBs, don't buy the aftermarket ones. They use cheap components and within a short period of time the button switch on the circuit board falls off. Go on ebay and buy a used OEM FOB.
