Maybe he’s planning on making it into a submersible Tundra.

Parking Assist... you guys are a riot

they have a silver tundra with TRD, but not the BSM, RCTA, and parking assist sonar.... so I’m considering grabbing it instead of waiting for one with the Sonar, BSM, and RCTA...

well damn. i was off. the wife likes hers a lot. i end up turning them off as soon as i get in. too many alarms yelling at me while im just trying to park. and if you park while ones yelling at you, expect it to yell at you some more when you go to move again. id rather hit something.

Sonar cruise is awesome. Sonar park can drive you crazy sometimes with cross traffic warnings as well it’s a beeping nightmare.

This is my first pickup and the largest vehicle I've ever owned and so far I haven't felt a need for parking assist. I find the backup camera sufficient.

Wife's Infinity has it. It seems to beep at everything - it beeps when backing out of the garage with nothing directly behind it. It gives off so many false alarms, the one time there really WAS something there, you guessed it, she hit it because she has learned to tune out/ignore the constant false alarms.

Don't know if they're like that on Tundra (mine doesn't have that feature), just something to verify and think about. The rear cam as a 3rd mirror is a better accident prevention system IMO.

I like the parking sensors. It's in addition to the rear camera and can warn you of hitting something if you don't see it in the rearview camera quick enough. Sometimes the sun glares into the cab making the screen hard to see, the parking sensors help in that regard. The Sequoia comes with two front ones and they are practically useless. I added a front camera instead of relying on the front sensors.

I didn't have anything on my 06, and when I was shopping, I just went with a Platinum to ensure I was getting them (sonar lol). Now having them, I wouldn't want a truck without them! I never use the stupid rear camera, I always use my mirrors and listen to the beeps. I only use the rear cam to first check behind me, but never to navigate. Having the sensors are like having a buddy jump out and "talk you into a spot". The BSM is just nice to have, and RCTA is useful when backing out of a crowded parking lot. Lots of race car drivers in the parking lots today!
If you can get them with a little patience, I would say keep looking! They are worth having. Also... You can turn everything off if you don't like the beeps except the RCTA, that's always on.

I've had the rear parking sensors on my past few vehicles and miss it on my Tundra. I'd trade my camera for the sensors any day of the week. Front sensors would be nice for turning in tight locations, but not necessary. The cruise control sensor is nice...until it isn't.

I turned all that stuff off. It’s distracting and beeps like crazy all the time. Drive through safe the worst. The truck LOSES its mind in small drive throughs.

the incessant squawking while I’m trying to park aggravates the family which in turn aggravate me.

The radar cruise is nice when the highway isn’t crowded. When traffic picks up, even a little, the truck heirs on the side of safety and constantly slows down for every jackass that makes use of the 3 second following distance the system retains.

I keep my parking sensors off all the time but do like the BSM and RCTA.

I had a Camry for a rental with the radar cruise and hated it. Way too sensitive to traffic in front even on the lowest setting.

I think it's worth it but I mostly use my truck as a daily driver and weekend boat puller. Easy enough to turn off when irritating but very useful the majority of the time. It came with the 4x4 Sport package but I would not have considered it a "must have" feature on a weekend offroad truck.

I had rear parking sensors on my old F-150 they actually worked really well. I don’t have them on my Tundra and don’t really miss them. My Lexus RX350 has them and I turn them off because they’re too sensitive - go off are the drive thru, gas pumps, etc.

I had parking sonar on my FJ, and I think it helped there because the backup camera was really lacking. The screen was only about an inch across (it was located in the rear view mirror) and the clarity was poor.

The camera in the Tundra is significantly better... the display is larger, sharper, and has lines to help judge distance.

I miss some things from my FJ, but the reverse sonar is not one of them.

These days I only need to parallel park a couple of times a year, so I do not have my skill very sharp. So, I do like the parking assist sonar. Stuff like that will be on all vehicles soon enough so it will help resale even if you don't use it yourself.

It's a big truck the parking assist will mitigate your "oh shits". And for me parking in my garage it's pretty much required along with power folding mirrors.

17 was the last year before all the TSS and there are different ECU's for 18+ I imagine they were able to address turning it on or off with newer features that were not available on mine.
