Here’s what I did

 

I bought a new breather for $12? Iirc. Ran the hose/breather up to the gas tank and zip tied it. This way I can swirl the breather cap easily with a gorilla arm twist versus removing the brake light. You could go to big box and buy a lawn mower fuel filter (in lieu) if you didn’t want to wait on a breather. I’d put that in the brake light.

 

The A/C does alter the RPM by design. Those other things you discussed I have no idea.

 

“empty the fridge” CLASSIC

 

Front gas stank strap BROKE during playtime after removal. Very weak, and pitted metal.

Also, the rubber "boot" on OG strap "heat welded" itself to the rubber coating on the tank in some spots.

So uh... what do I do about the bare metal spots on my tank now?

 

Replaced the transfer case fluid today. Removed the skid row plate to do the front diff. Started inspecting everything and found my driver side CV boot is torn. It only lasted 25k miles. That's what I get for letting Meineke use a cheap one. Decided to hold off on replacing the front diff fluid and just wait to do it all at once. I'm going to order that ECGS bushing and do both CV's at the same time.



Also noticed the bushing for my LCA doesn't look to great either. Not too worried about those though.

 

Did my transmission fluid today! Rainy day here in aurora illinois! I put in exactly 4 quarts and its got me right on the top of the hot side of the dipstick. 4 quarts of dex/merc is the perfect amount. Also siphoned out the powersteering fluid and filled it with the dex/merc.

 

No shit it’s rainy! I was hoping for a good weekend. But the weather said no

 

@empty_lord it was just okay yesterday afternoon. Still bs for mid may... took the kayak out on the fox but it was a little cold for my likeing. I was basically pretending that the weather wasnt shit lol.

Thanks to @empty_lord I now have my parking lights back! Scion sockets were the way to go! Used El cheapo Big Gurll 1157s

Tried to remove the old rear shocks. I was able to remove the lower bolt, and I couldn't get the top to budge. I even asked Pops to help.

His reccomendation was to cut it off, torch it off, OR contract this job out to someone who has proper facilities, and tools.

Put a pair of vise grips on the shaft and the longest wrench you can get on it. It'll either move or snap off, either way problem solved.

 

Irwin vise grips as tight as I could get them, and they still lock. They damaged the shaft slightly, and the longest breaker bar with cheater pipe we had. I felt the nut start to "roll" on my 6 point socket. I removed the set up we had, and verified it was starting to come loose, but it was only damaging the nut. Crusty up there. If my gut told me it was going to come loose I would have continued.

 

I just cut the shaft under the perch, then punch the top out through the bottom

 

Well my p0420 code came back, looks like ill try an anti fouler to see if I can keep it from coming back

 

Spray some flex seal on them. Better than Fuze!

 

Is that the Catalytic Convertor Code?

Did you get a new 02 sensor ? That fixed mine on the other bank I had p0430

 

I swapped sensors bank to bank, to see if the code followed the swap, it did not. So I know it’s not the sensor

 

Try the seafoam trick suck it through master cylinder hose

Out with the old sockets, and in with the new. Parking lights have returned! Reason #10,003 on why I will never be a hand model. Only a finger model

 

Started pulling out the shelving and Strut rails to install in the 2015!

It turns out that the length of strut I need for the new one is exactly the same as is already in the 2001 so I will save that money Today and just resuse the old strut.
Not sure yet about the configuration of the new one in back just yet but should be similar to the old one I imagine too.

I wish I could find some 8' drawers for a reasonable price!

But no really that's exactly how I felt today laying under the truck, even with safety squints on old metal particles, and rust flakes kept making their way into my fucking eyes.

Offroad Solutions High Angle boots (I know I talk about them a lot but they're worth the trouble if you have the front lifted)...

 

Yesterday I popped off the bed rails and tailgate cap and gave them a few coats of black paint. Looks a lot better. Also installed the easy lift tailgate assist.

Gonna pop off the rear bumper cover and do the same. It's looking a very sad light gray. I also need to grease the slip yoke as its starting to irritate me when the truck bucks after a stop. Lol. My brother drove it the other day and it did it to him and freaked him out. He thought the car behind him had hit him. Lol
