First time ever a vehicle has tipped over in this type of test.

Did you watch the TRL video on the same crash test ? They compared it to the Toyota 4 runner .

Not surprised. In my 97 TJ I hit a mid sized donkey in south Texas. I rolled onto the side just from that. 60 mph, 4" lift and 33" tires. Ripped the passenger fender right off the jeep, front axle gone, and the sway bar got pushed through the floor board. Wish I had pictures of it but this was before smart phones that an E2 could afford (circa 2001). DPS weighed the donkey afterwards and it was a little over 350lbs. Didn't do much damage to him. Killed him but I was extremely lucky, had the doors off and my foot hanging out. The way the engines and fenders line up inside it basically a ramp like the stunt drivers use to get on 2 wheels. Insurance totaled out the jeep and I told myself that was the last one I'd own.

I think the solid front axle has a large play in this. It does not crush like an independent suspension will. Hopefully Jeep stays with the solid front axle design forever. No matter what you think about the Wrangler or Jeep, I like that this vehicle is still around and is pretty much different than just about every other vehicle out there. Hopefully that doesn't change. You can always counter tests like this, that were created in a lab, with real world tests like this....this kid survived...

Although it would be cool working there and get to smash cars all the time...how much would it suck to clean them up? "Alright Mac, here's a broom. Go sweep up that Jeeps guts."

This is a new test in the last couple years, though, right? I wonder how other off road oriented vehicles from past years that wouldn't have seen this test and that are high and narrow would fare.
