What thread thing are you referring to? The leather stitching or the threading to attach the shift knob?

If the threading to attach is loose, there is a small Phillips head screw on the inside at the very top. Need a really long skinny Phillips to get there, but should be able to tighten it back up and be good to go.

yeah it’s the threading piece to attach. I’m thinking somehow it’s broken. The threading is loose in the knob. It’s that black thing in the picture below.

Try getting a long skinny Phillips in there and tightening the small screw at the top inside. Screwdriver has to be more narrow than the shifting column to pass through the threaded piece of plastic and reach the screw at the top. If it isn’t actually rattling around in there, that should solve the issue.

EDIT: if it is rattling I fixed mine with the same issue and I can also try to help there.

All good! Alright I fixed one of these before without taking it apart. You will need some super glue with one of the longer applicators a rod of some kind that is wider than the threaded piece of plastic, best if it kind of gets wedged inside so you can move it about (I used a Phillips screwdriver) and some plumbers tape.

Squirt some super glue on the inside of the knob, and spread it around on all sides internally. Then placing the knob on a table top jam the screwdriver in there and get it kind of wedged inside the broken threading, bring it to the top and spin it around so the super glue costs the sides of the piece, the. Push back to the top of the knob and push into place. Wait a bit for the glue to dry, and gently remove the screw driver.. played with this a few times to ensure I could get the screw drivers out easily without breaking the newly hardened super glue. I then put plumbers tape on the shifting column threads to help it get tight without having to torque it down too much.

hope this helps and good luck! Not sure if you can easily open it up, but this is what I did and worked like a charm.
