Here's my deal. I started a new job about 2 months ago. One of the perks was a new company truck with a very liberal personal use policy. I love my Tundra, but it has been sitting the entire time. I didn't use it much to begin with, but can't live without a truck. Prior to my new job, I had a company car, so it did get used a little. (About 4k per year). I hate the idea of having a very nice vehicle just sitting around, so I have been considering selling it. The timing sucks though with the Covid thing. Should I try to sell it now, or wait? The used car market isn't great, but if I wait 6 months then new models will be out and it will be yet another model year older. (BTW if any of you want to buy a 2018 TRD Sport with a little over 10K miles, let me know. ;))

Might be the perfect time to sell. Gas is cheap and everyone thinks they're rich after getting their Trump check. Just look at all the deals different vendors are offering

Plus, everyone is doing house renovations and landscape work with all their free time. If they didn't already have a pickup, they are either renting one, renting a trailer or looking to buy a truck to haul all that stuff.

I think I counted 7 huge trees that people cut down in my neighborhood.

Sell your Tundra to the company you are working for, then use it as your company truck.

post it up for sale....if it sells for the price you want, then done deal. If not, then delist and try again later.

Wish it was that easy. Unfortunately they only use 3/4 and 1 tons, so the Tundra is out.

Might want to hold on to the truck for a bit. Lots of those liberal personal use policies and perks dry up after a couple years. Hate for you to sell it, and then have to buy another one in a couple years.

Used car/truck market is going to tank, so if you’re considering selling, sell it now. Even in good times the value drops every month, and though Toyota holds value better than Ford or Dodge, the value still decreases week by week, month by month. Think about it, and I wish you the best.

I was thinking along those lines. I also heard an article yesterday that the new car market is going to be in short supply because of the stop in production. Maybe that will help the prices on the newer low mileage vehicles? Like trying to gamble on the stock market...

List it at a price you want- since you aren’t in a hurry you don’t have to take low offers. There are always people out there looking for a better deal then the dealers, especially used car dealers.

Just a thought, if the 21 models come out with the rumored V6 twin turbos that low mileage V8 you have might be a highly sought after vehicle

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
Who doesn’t like a low mileage truck, it depends on what your asking for it.

Auto loans are at lower interest rates now too. I’m going to refi mine in May from 4.0 to 2.95
    From my credit union.

some folks may be setting on cash now, waiting for a good deal.

I sold mine in less than 24 hours, for $1k less than asking without even listing it

That's a good point. I'm not a fan of the turbo V6s. I absolutely wouldn't buy one until they had been out for at least 3-4 years to prove reliability. I made that mistake once buying a rig with a brand new motor.

Does your sport have leather? It is a nice, clean looking truck. I may be in the market for one in the next couple of weeks. Just waiting for a refinance on our house to go through before I buy anything else. I live in Redding, Ca and am looking for a new truck. I had my heart set on a Tacoma but my wife just bought a TT that is a bit too big for it. By the way, I like your taste in bikes. I loved my Pivot’s!

Why do you think that? with the economy slowing down, wouldn't demand for used vehicles increase? Especially with work stoppages at the factories, I'd figure that new cars/trucks will also be in low supply, so deals won't be great.

As mentioned list it and see what it happens. You could also get a Carmax or similar offer, but I would do it sooner than later.

Great post. I have been going back and forth on selling my truck for a newer one. I also have the luxury of a rental for work for any trip over 50 miles, so my Tundra has low mileage. The only reason to trade up for me would be for the CM and larger V8 since I have the smaller engine now. Of course, there are some snazzy new colors that have peaked my interest. I guess based on the comments, I better consider this decision sooner. Good luck!

    Double Jack,
I too have had this dilemma, my company provides a work vehicle (2017 F-250) with no issues for grocery shopping, going to dinners gym etc.

Thanks to them I have a 2017 Platinum Pro which is THE driveway queen.
    12,787 miles as of Monday.

I’ve toyed with trading it in for a Raptor a couple times, thought long n hard about selling it several times.
However, I won’t get the trade in or the sale price I want for it. Dumped too much money into it ( current trade in is $34,500) privately I would ask for $42k
Plus... I do ac side jobs + other work and it’s very handy to throw som equipment/materials in the back and go. It’s only $16,000 from pay off so I figure I’m gonna keep mine, pay it off early and Mod the *%$@ out of it !
