I have been reading about products that can add Apple CarPlay to the JBL Entune HU. Curious if anyone has installed any of the ones below and if so, what they think of it.

NAAVKS Apple Car Play interface kit or the iPhone mirroring kit.
Emerald Audio Integration’s integrated CarPlay system
Beat-Sonic’s interface kit or the mirroring kit
    Auxxo’s CarPlay integration system

    Appreciate the comments/recommendations.

I have the beat sonic kit. It works. Just mirrors the phone so obviously can’t touch the screen to do anything. You have to pick up the phone. But I can play videos. Haven’t messed with any other apps. Not much else to it. It was easy to install.

How is the quality of the factory display? I have read it is not the best for non dvd equiped head units.

Thanks Timsp8. I was thinking of the beat sonic myself. I would also like your opinion of the display like sleeper16 is asking. Thanks

The quality was good. It wasn’t the best, but back during football season I had Hulu with live tv and could put games on and be able to read the score at the bottom. I’d say it was like an older HD tv. I can try to take a pic of it later today.

Sorry. Got busy yesterday. Here are pics of tundras.com, Netflix main page, and first few seconds of Ozark.

Looking at the pictures now that they are posted, I have to say it does look a little better than that.

Thanks Tim. Yes it does look good. One more question: why do you need to be able to turn off the DVD&NAVI switch? Why not leave it on all the time or not use?

Do you mean with the switch they give you? I believe it overrides the safety stuff. So you can watch video while moving, but then the nav won’t work. But mine has always worked. I forgot what setting mine is on, but my nav works and I can watch video when moving.

Thanks for sharing pics timsp8. Website resolution does not look to be all that great, but the video looks watchable.

Do you have the phone mirroring version ($249) or the apple carplay or android auto version ($499)?

I do mean the toggle switch. I am not sure why it is needed. I do want to watch video and Netflix while driving and want to be able to make calls and change the nav while driving as well. When it dis enabled, does it disable anything else? I sent an email to beat sonic with the same question. Thanks for posting the pics. The res looks acceptable for being lo-def.

Sleeper16plat - if you get the car play version, beat sonic tells me no video in motion and that is what I want.

I put the toggle switch down by the foot vents under the dash. I think it worked at first in that it was either video or nav, but one day just started working with both nav and video. I didn’t rewire anything. Since it works the way I want, I haven’t messed with it since.

I have both Beat-Sonic modules - screen-mirroring and CarPlay. I can toggle between CarPlay and screen mirroring if I want and toggle video in motion. Though, I had to add an audio switcher in order for audio to work correctly

Both? that seems like overkill... what would be benefit of spending 750 doing this vs getting a new headunit
