    Thanks much.

I think the general rule for my area is 1.1x sale price is OTD price. That applied to my quote would be $40.9k for the truck. Seems high still right?

I paid $41.7K, except mine was a CrewMax (though without premium audio). You oughta be able to easily get below what I paid.

I presume that is before TTL.

$45k OTD in my locale translates to ~$40.9k.

I'd say yea, he's high, you can probably get that deal any day of the year.

No since of urgency, he needs comedown another $1,200-$1,500.

    Thanks.

On another note, I gotta believe salespeople look at threads of this nature on forums. Concur?

TTL is ~ $1800, so $43,500 for the whole shootin' match.

With that said, the $41.7K was before trade-in; and that also included any and all fees other than TTL.

For a double cab, yes it’s high. For a CrewMax seems fair/good deal.

True, although for my truck, this also included 4 years of maintenance (oil changes, rotations, fluids), $100 in parts towards my truck, and a lifetime engine warranty. (Plus some other minor stuff.)

I've never traded a car in. So a trade-in will offset the selling price, thus reduce sales tax?

I think it’s dependent on the state you live in how it’s taxed. Key word *think*.

It did for us. I owe $1800 in taxes. If you multiply $30K (which was the $41,700 I paid, minus $11,700 for my trade-in) by .06 (sales tax rate where I live), you get $1800.

Yes the trade in gets deducted before tax because you’ve already paid the tax on your trade in when you bought it .

Ha! Get this....In CA, you still pay sales tax on the initial price of the vehicle regardless of your trade-in value. And any cash rebate, gets ignored when calculating the sales tax.

I'm not surprised. CA is run by idiot money grabbers. Corruption at it's finest.

It is what it is at this point. I am free to move to another state if it bothered me that much.

As of now I have told the dealers that I am waiting to see what Toyota will do on May 5 as far as interest and rebates. My 3 lowest offers are still too high or at least I think they are considering whats going on with all of the markets. All are TRD Sports with the SR5 upgrade. MSRP of $45108 and price of $41421, MSRP of $46036 and price of $41268, and MSRP of $44844 and price of $41906. The best price is 175 miles away and the second best is 130 miles away. I just don't feel that $4768 off of MSRP is good enough considering most of these trucks have been sitting there for at least 2 months or more. Not sure if when Toyota starts production on May 1st it will help prices or hurt. I have told these three that I was looking for a price in the $38-39000 range and no one came down.

Wait ‘em out. I read an article yesterday saying that used car values are about to rank with unemployment rising and people ditching vehicles they can no longer afford. Supply and demand. Auto auctions are stacked with used vehicles right now. I can only assume new car prices will follow the same downward trend.

I read that same thing on that Yahoo News link. Told the wife that we should also be looking at a used Rav4 for her. One of the lease returns would work out perfect. Right now I will wait till May 5th and if things don't change I will wait till late summer. I will just have more money saved which will reduce my monthly payments...win win

2020 had a bunch of dealer goodies already installed that I normally would have asked to live without. Spray in, door protectors, 2 years of maintenance included. I don't think I dog walked them but I definitely don't feel like I overpaid.

This. I got about $6500-7000 off of my truck, plus 4 years of maintenance free and a lifetime engine warranty. (y) (Plus some other stuff.) Prices may go down but I didn't exactly get taken to the cleaners even if they do.

Easy way to figure Tundra Deals; ASK FOR 12% DEALER DISCOUNT OFF MSRP, ASK FOR REBATE ($2,750 WHERE I LIVE), ADD DOC FEE, TAX AND DMV FEES.
The REBATES may go up $250 or so but the DEALER DISCOUNT OF 12% will not change; 12% off is the top.
If you get a dealer discount of 11.4% take it, YOU DID GREAT!!

If they would have even come close to 12% I would have more than likely made the deal. It would have brought down the $46036 down to $40512 and with the rebate it would have been $37762. If Toyota dose not make the incentives worth my while I can wait. I won't feel like I am in a time crunch till late August or early September. I want it to be warm when I spray fluid film and add Katskin leather.

You folks in the northwoods have it terrible on price.

Look at Wilde Toyota online in MKE, WI, find a truck you like, click on get the Wilde price and fill in your contact info and you will likely get a deal at 11% off or better.

The 2 Dealers in the Duluth area are both very hard to deal with in terms of pricing. Kolar wanted MSRP when I was looking in 2007 and was able to get $6000 off at St. Cloud Toyota. I already have Wilde in my Toyota folder of dealers. I am reaching down to Chicago as well. I could fly down and drive my new Tundra back if the price was right. Right now I am waiting to see what the next round of incentives will bring. If it sucks I will just wait till fall.

I got my TRD OFF ROAD back in August 2019 for $40k out the door. So in these times I think you could get it for less than that.

NOPE, that isn't even a good deal. I would say 39K plus taxes and that is it. Right now the dealers are desperate for business, even Toyota, so go low! If they don't budge right away, give it time!
